NFC East Roundup (Week 4)

This is going to be a weekly article where I will take a look at a snapshot of the NFC East games each week and see how each of the teams did and what the standings are. This division, despite half the division being given the top 2 rosters, has been a complete and utter failure of a division. The Cowboys have won the division by default generally, though they have underperformed badly given the team. We will see this year if any other team can rise up and take the division crown from them. The Giants almost did it last season, but failed embarrassingly.

Cowboys 27 – Vikings 24

The Cowboys finally got on the board and secured their first win in dramatic fashion. The game was close throughout, however, some say that the Cowboys user purposely bypassed a mechanic in the game which would have iced his kicker. This isn’t a good thing for someone who says they are one of the most sim users in the league. Nonetheless, Prescott showed out against the Vikings defense and lifted his team to a victory. The Vikings got the ground game going, but it was Milton’s costly interceptions and a game-tying missed field that eventually cost them the game.

Notable Statistic: Prescott 25/30 333 Yards 3 TD 1 INT

Eagles 59 – Commanders 35

The Eagles are leading the division at this point and are trying to keep that lead. This will be a task they will have to do without their superstar x factor quarterback Hurts as he was hurt for the rest of the season on a meaningless scramble. You would think that the Commanders would be able to take advantage of this but you would be wrong. Leary came into the game and the offense didn’t miss a beat. Actually Leary ended up being more accurate than Hurts when the game ended. The Commanders would put up some points as they always do but, the defense and interceptions once again are their downfall.

Notable Statistic: Hurts gets hurt for the rest of the season

Giants 14 – Lions 26

This could have been possibly the rainiest and windest game i have ever seen. Both teams had trouble on offense but the major difference in the game was where the ball landed. Goff and Ewers both had rough days throwing the ball, but Goffs incompletions fell in the open field, while Ewers went straight into the arms of seven defenders. It seemed that the wind was on the Lions side as each offensive possession for the Giants ended like that last. Most of these interceptions were different, with one coming from an engaged corner blitz, another from a jumping safety over his own player and another from a potential missed pass interference call. Nonetheless the game was close besides the turnover fest, but things are falling the same way for the Giants and whoever is at the quarterback position.

Notable Statistic: Ewers 26/40 314 Yards 2 TD 7 INT

The Eagles are in sole position of first place in the NFC East. Can they keep that position with their best player out for the rest of the season? They have a few options to pick from on their roster, however, rumors around the league are that a few veteran quarterbacks are on the block. Everyone but the Commanders have a win, so maybe next week that statistic will change.

Eagles 2-2
Giants 1-3
Cowboys 1-3
Commanders 0-4
