NFC East Roundup (Week 5)

This is going to be a weekly article where I will take a look at a snapshot of the NFC East games each week and see how each of the teams did and what the standings are. This division, despite half the division being given the top 2 rosters, has been a complete and utter failure of a division. The Cowboys have won the division by default generally, though they have underperformed badly given the team. We will see this year if any other team can rise up and take the division crown from them. The Giants almost did it last season, but failed embarrassingly.

Cowboys 48 – Giants 36

The past three weeks have been some dramatic filled games for these two teams. Both games had some sort of interruption, and each game had a different team leading at the time. In this week’s game the Cowboys were winning by 8 and it was 4th down for the Giants in the late 3rd quarter. The first game interruption resulted in a full restart and a 7 point Giant lead, while this game resulted in a full restart but a 14 point Cowboy lead. The 14 points didn’t really make sense but that is what was agreed upon. The game started off fast for the Cowboys as they scored a quick kick return and jet sweep to go up 27 – 6. The Giants would cool them off and claw their way back getting the score to 41-26 at the start of the fourth. The Giants would score on the first drive of the fourth quarter then get a field goal to make the score 41-36 with 4 minutes to go. The Cowboys would drive down the field but get stopped on a 3rd and 11 to set up a 4th and 11 on the Giants 47 yard line. Normally, most teams would punt the ball here, however, the Cowboys decided to go for and get the illegal fourth down play to seal the game with about 50 seconds left. The Cowboys decided to double down on their unsim nature by passing and scoring a touchdown with seconds left instead of kneeling out the game. Teams will always do whatever it takes to get the win and for the Cowboys it took a 14 point head start plus an illegal 4th down to do it. If this is what it takes to beat the lowly Giants, I don’t see the rest of the season going well for the newest team added to the unsim roster of users.

Notable Statistic: Unsim Roster Of Users: Drama, Mike D

Eagles 33 – Dolphins 34

The Eagles are probably the most banged up roster in the league, however, they just added their quarterback Ridder for this season. Ridder has been known to be on the trade block since the start of the season, however, even with his trade value diminished he still cost premier picks to get. The Eagles are facing a reality next season where they either have two quarterbacks making 25 million or they just wasted valuable picks. I think anyone would give up those picks for a superbowl title so if HD becomes the superbowl champ then all is good. The Eagles though, need to get healthy as the injuries were too much to handle in this game. They played very well considering, but Allar out played Ridder and that was all she wrote. It will be interesting to see how this team responds to the injuries for the next couple of weeks.

Notable Statistic: Ridder and his 3 interceptions might not be the answer.

Commanders 14 – 49ers 56

Trading away a lot of valuable picks just to have your wide receiver end up on IR for the rest of the season isn’t a great move for success. This is now the new reality for the Commanders. They made a lot of moves this offseason, and now they are down a very good wide receiver, and two fantastic defensive lineman, however, they have tons of safeties to make up for it. The safeties are their safety net to take their season back…get it… In all seriousness, the Commanders had a rough offseason, and now they are having a rough season. The NFC Least is one where they can come back and save the season, but with performances like this game, it just won’t happen. The Niners just dominated from start to finish and the Commanders just had no answer. Does anyone have any safeties on the block?

Notable Statistic: 49ers had 604 total yards of offense

Don’t look now but the Unsim Cowboys are tied for the division lead. We will see what other unsim methods they have cooking to add with the negated iced kick effect, illegal fourth down, and running up the score tactics. Can the Cowboys take over the injured Eagles and knock off the undefeated Broncos? We will find out next week on the next edition of the NFC Least.

Eagles 2-3
Cowboys 2-3
Giants 1-4
Commanders 0-5
