How has Tyrann Mathieu’s experience in the league helped the team so far?
He was phenomenal for us the last two seasons but is in his last year with us and doesn't seem too happy about it. He led our secondary so well for two seasons even winning an award so we rewarded that with a $15 Million contract for this season to help our rookie safety grow and continue our defensive excellence and he's just phoned it in. The defense is struggling as a result. We're working on it.
What kind of player do you see when you look at Bryce Young?
A short one. Kidding, kind of. He's a very dynamic player who can run and pass, but we see his weaknesses of being a smaller quarterback and want our big defensive line in his face. He will make the throws and make plays if we let him, but if we can play some aggressive defense, we think he'll revert to bad habits.
What can you attribute to having one of the top-scoring teams in the league to this point?
Maalik Murphy and his versatility for sure as well as just a well rounded offense on every level. Many were worried that when we went from a pocket passer to a guy who's essentially Cam Newton 2.0, we'd use him poorly or make him fit our system. We aren't the Chicago Bears IRL, we put our players in the best situation possible and it shows. Maalik keeps finding ways into the endzone, because even with an expanded Qb running game, we didn't expect him to get into the endzone this much. We'll continue to adapt and stay fresh to be a top scoring team.
