Season 3- Week 6 Denver Broncos vs Dallas Cowboys

Welcome to second edition of the Advanced Stats presented by myself! This time we are covering the Dallas Cowboys strong victory against the Denver Broncos in overtime. The final score was 37-31! Lets look deeper into this game!

Advanced Passing Stat (AGG %)

Passes made by the quarterback/user that was thrown into tight windows divided by the total amount of passing attempts!

Dallas Cowboys- Cam Ward

Taking over for the suspended Dak Prescott the young Cam Ward finished with a stat line of 21/34, 285 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. His AGG% was 44% meaning nearly half of his total attempts were thrown into tight windows!

Denver Broncos- Trey Lance

Trey Lance finished with a stat line of 18/29, 322 yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. His AGG% was 28% which is much better than the young Cam Ward when it comes to finding open targets!

Advanced Rushing Stat

Percentage of rushing attempts that featured a 8 man box over the totality of their carries!

Dallas Cowboys- Tony Pollard

Tony Pollard was going against a 8 man box at a clip of 35% on 17 attempts, showing the respect for the speedster!

Dallas Cowboys- Dameon Pierce

Pierce like his counterpart saw a 8 man box over 30% of the time! His 8 man box percentage was 33% on 15 attempts.

Denver Broncos- Nick Chubb

Nick Chubb had 18 attempts in this game and only saw a 8 man box 3 times for a total of 17% of the time!

Advanced Receiving Stat

SEP aka the average yards if separation created by a WR/TE/RB against man to man coverage in which they are targeted.

Dallas Cowboys- Brock Wright

Brock got one target in man to man coverage against a zone heavy Denver Broncos team. He created no separation at all with 0 yards of separation!

Dallas Cowboys- Tony Pollard

Pollard gets it done in the air and on the ground. Against man coverage the runningback amassed 6 yards of separation in his one attempt!

Denver Broncos- Nick Chubb

Nick faced a man heavy Dallas Cowboys team and in that time he saw 2 routes against that man to man coverage. He averaged 6.5 yards of separation per route ran!

Denver Broncos- Arian Smith

Smith saw a lot of action in this game and a lot of actions specifically against man coverage. In his 7 attempts he averaged 1.86 yards of separation.

Denver Broncos- Jerry Juedy

Superstar Jerry Juedy was anything but in his 3 targets in man coverage. He averaged a eye popping (in a bad way) 0 yards of separation!

Denver Broncos- Mason Taylor

Tight End Mason Taylor was effective against man coverage in 1 of his 3 attempts. Creating 5 yards of separation, 1 yard of separation, then 0 yards of separation. Giving him an average of 2 yards of separation per route ran versus man coverage where he was targeted!

Advanced Pass Rushing Stat

Everyones favorite (Besides Sacks)! Pressures on the Quarterback!

Dallas Cowboys- DeMarvion Overshown

In a heavy man blitz game by the Dallas Cowboys, DeMarvion Overshown got busy with 2 pressures to go along with his 1 sack!

Dallas Cowboys- Arnold Ebiketie

He might’ve missed out on his dev but Arnold was effective in this one getting to Trey Lance 2 times and forcing him either to miss a throw or escape the pocket!

Dallas Cowboys- Levani Damuni

Who? Well Levani may be unknown he at least made hisself known to Trey Lance with his 1 pressure!

Denver Broncos- Thomas Incoom

Not a heavy blitz day or pressure day for Denver but Thomas was able to effect the young Cam Ward 1 time with a pressure!

Advanced Coverage Stats

I’ve added to this since the last one. In this we will breakdown the amount of attempts, completions, yards, touchdowns, interceptions, blanketed coverage (0 yards of separation) and Target Share (Total attempts thrown their way while in man coverage compared divided by the total amount they were in man coverage completely). Trying to show how often a certain player may be avoided or not thrown at either do to their sticky coverage or name!

Dallas Cowboys- Tre White

Tre White was tied with targeted the most out of anyone while in man coverage with a 33% target share. In that he was targeted 6 times total in 18 man coverage opportunities. In those 6 targets he allowed 3 catches for 24 yards and 1 interception. In those 6 attempts he also was attached to the hip with 4 blanketed coverages! Very sticky!

Dallas Cowboys- Trevon Diggs

Tre Whites counterpart Trevon Diggs wasn’t nearly as active as White was. In 18 man coverage opportunities the younger Diggs was only targeted 3 times for a 17% target share. In those 3 attempts made his way he allowed 2 receptions for 20 yards and blanketed his receiver on 1 of those routes!

Dallas Cowboys- Jessie Bates

Former Falcon Jessie Bates was in man coverage 9 times and was only targeted 1 time for a target share of 11%. He did however allow a catch in that 1 target for 32 yards.

Dallas Cowboys- Damone Clark

Damone Clark was targeted 3 times in 11 man to man opportunities for a target share of 27%. In those 3 targets he was BBQ Chicken! Receivers went 3 for 3 with 121 yards and 1 touchdown!

Dallas Cowboys- Eddie Jackson

Eddie “Lockdown” Jackson had 15 routes guarded in man to man coverage and was only targeted 1 time! That gives him a target share of 7%. With that 1 target he didn’t allow a single reception!

Dallas Cowboys- DaRon Bland

Bland wasn’t involved much but had 3 man to man opportunities and 1 target in those opportunities tying Tre White with the highest target share of 33%. That 1 target was completed for 29 yards!

Dallas Cowboys- Malik Hooker, Leighton Vander Esche, DeMarvion Overshown, Donovan Wilson

All received man to man responsibilities and didn’t get targeted 1 time. Vander Esche had the most volume out of the bunch with 6 opportunities.

Denver Broncos- Nik Bonitto

Not a very man heavy scheme in Denver. Bonitto had 1 man to man opportunity in which he did get targeted for a 100% target share when put in man coverage. In that 1 attempt he allowed a completion for 11 yards total.

Denver Broncos- Keon Sabb

Sabb unlike Bonitto saw more than 1 man to man opportunity with a total of 2. In those 2 man to man attempts he had 1 target for a 50% target share. Receivers went 1 for 1 against him with 13 yards but they were blanketed by Sabb in the process!

Denver Broncos- Damarri Mathis, Jacoby Matthews, Marshon Lattimore, Patrick Surtain II

All these players had 2 or 3 man to man opportunities against the pass and didn’t get picked on once!

Conclusion!

Denver Broncos being very zone or match heavy against the Cowboys didn’t allow for a lot of coverage stats from the Broncos or Separation Stats from the Cowboys! In the end the man to man Cowboys were extremely effective (besides Damone Clark). Let me know if you’re enjoying the series and would like to see a breakdown like this of your next game!
