S03 Draft Grades Part 1!: Steelers and Bengals pass with flying colors; Patriots fast track to a D

There is no one who loves handing out grades more than Arod, Greeny, and Matigy, so after the draft was over, we sifted through every team’s draft class and came up with a grade for each team.
For most teams, their best pick was the one they made in the first round, but we’ve decided to spice things up here by only listing each teams best pick outside the first round. With that in mind, lets get into draft grades, analysis, and best picks for all 32 teams.

AFC EAST
Buffalo Bills, Beast
1.11 FS Malaki Starks, 74, star
2.11 CB Jaedyn Lukus, 74, star *Best Pick*
3.11 TE Oscar Delp, 74, star
5.11 RT Earnest Greene III, 74, normal
6.11 QB Brady Cook, 72, normal
7.11 HB Omarion Hampton, 70, normal

Beast came out firing the first 3 rounds drafting sure fire starters that could contribute day 1. I loved the Malaki pick where in a world where quarterbacks didn’t fly off the board early, Malaki would not have reached pick 11. He came back in the 2nd round and drafted 6’2 Jaedyn Lukas who was gifted star dev out the gate. Also loved the Oscar Delp entering the pros with 87 speed to provide some added security for Kinkaid who we know Beast uses in high volumes. Earnest Greene in the 5th is an instant starter on the edge who should secure the job for the rest of the cycle. Overall solid draft from Beast and the Bills

Miami Dolphins, Deebo
1.15 QB Drew Allar, 77, star
1.21 LOLB Mohamed Kaba, 73, normal
2.15 WR Chris Lewis, 72, normal
3.15 LOLB Marvin Jones Jr., 76, normal *Best Pick*
4.15 LG Emery Jones Jr., 73, star
5.15 RB Damien Martinez, 74, star
6.15 LOLB David Bailey, 72, normal
7.15 WR Dane Key, 73, star

The Dolphins got their man snagging franchise quarterback Drew Allar with the 15th pick after letting Tua walk this past season. The 95 throw power is just the right amount of umf to reach world class speedster Tyreek Hill with some over the top deep balls that will surely leave the rest of the AFC scrambling to stop. No Allar isnt the speedster most prefer, but that is where Deebo struck gold and was able to get a pocket quarterback of his caliber mid 1st. What is up with the 21st pick in the first? Kaba may have been one of the bigger bust of the entire draft considering where he was drafted and what the numbers said after the attributes were released. 73 overall, 82 speed, severely low ball skills, and even worse are his beating block numbers (65pwr / 66fin), yuck! Luckily they rebounded after they realized how bad Kaba was and turned around in the 3rd round and grabbed 6’5 Marvin Jones Jr. who should be a much better player on the edges than Kaba. Chris Lewis was drafted to fill the speedy void left by Jaylen Waddle last year. He came in with 95 speed, so for what its worth they added another speedster to line up opposite of Hill. Emery Jones was a solid day 1 start selected to plug and play the LG position for the rest of the cycle. Damien Martinez provides a change of pace back for De’Von Achnane, however, I don’t believe he will reach his fullest potential coming into the league at star dev with some pretty solid attributes. Overall, struck gold in the 1st, but the Kaba selection is too much for me to overlook at pick 21. Also, reaching for a WR in mid round two based on his potential speed was a reach as well.

New York Jets, Greeny
2.19 LOLB Enai White, 74
3.19 WR Dont’e Thorton Jr., 72
4.21, RG D.J. Campbell, 71, star *Best Pick*
5.6 CB Zemaiah Vaughn, 67

The Jets mortgaged their future by sending multiple 1rd picks over to the Commanders in exchange for Jonathan Allen. So the draft room in East Rutherford had a rather relaxed night I guess you could say. White should be a day 1 starter in New York based off his decent overall and speed alone. However, Greeny will need to put some AR into his rather raw skillset as he should see his time primarily lined up on the edge. He grabbed a star dev guard in the 4th that is always a bonus to progress them a bit faster. Would have liked to see them try and find the ‘best players’ rather than the fastest.

New England Patriots, Spdot
1.31 MLB Tyreem Powell, 72, star
2.31 HB Phil Mafah, 64
3.31 WR Colbie Young, 73, star **Best Pick**
4.31 CB Devin Kirkwood, 72
5.31 MLB Shadrach Banks, 68
6.31 QB Alex Orji, 58
7.31 RT P.J. Williams, 68

Someone had speed on their mind during the scouting process. Powell was a solid selection at the end of the first round coming in with 90+ speed. Probably better suited on the edge due to his lack of ball skills, it will be interesting to see how Dot uses him. Mafah, I mean as of this writing he is wrecking shop, but lets keep it real, a true speed reach if I ever seen one. Colbie at 94 speed and star dev may have been their best pure selection of the draft. He has been a day 1 contributor to the offense, and has the developmental upside as well. I liked the Kirkwood pick because you cant teach 6’3. He will be a monster when he develops a bit down the line. We can agree Dot knows how to use these guys, and the first 4 selections will certainly be big time players in no time, but in terms of pure talent, the Patriots struck out

NFC NORTH
Washington Commanders, Miles
1.6 MLB Harold Perkins,77, Star
1.10 Sonny Styles, 76, SS
4.6 CB Jahlil Florence, 73 normal (best pick)
4.18 LG Andrej Karic, 72, normal
6.19 LOLB Joshua Josephs, 71, normal
7.6 DT Simeon Barrow Jr, 72 normal

A huge portion of this class is in the top 2 and they are great players, Harold Perkins was good awareness away from being an 80+ overall of rip but at 66 it’s holding down his OVR. But commanders were blessed that he fell to them. Sonny was mainly taken this high bc of his sublb potential but with 63 awareness that era is far away but the dev will help. Florence is a solid starter and the rest of the class is just depth

Dallas Cowboys, Drama
1.25 LG Tegra Tshabola, 76, normal
2.17 WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith, 72, normal
3.25 LT Kingsley Eguakun, 76, Star
4.25 LE Levani Damuni, 77, normal ( Best pick)
5.25 DT Shemar Stewart, 73, Star
6.25 LT Delmar Glaze, 71, normal
7.25 CB Jalen Kimber, 67, normal

A very good draft class that produced 5 starters and was needed after the Cowboys lost a lot of talent especially on the oline and they did a solid job of replacing it. These guys aren’t going to run block how the previous group did but they will be very good pass blockers with tegra being very good already and Kingsley is solid with a needed dev

Philadelphia Eagles, HD
1.7 LE Mykel Williams, 75, SS
2.25 C Ethan Driskall, 72, star
3.7 RB Jayden Ott, 68, normal
3.8 WR Jimmy Horn Jr, 74, Star
4.7 ROLB Jaren Kanak, 76 normal ( best pick)
5.4 LG Jacob Gideon, 66 normal

Getting an SS edge to complete the Dline was a good addition to the team. 2nd round they picked up a very average center and in the 3rd round picked up two solid weapons but I felt like both those guys could be had in the 4th or even 5th round. They followed that up with a good run stuffer and a bust in round 5.

New York Giants, Burn
1.17 CB Jarvis Brownlee, 78, normal
3.17 RE Van Fillinger, 72, Star
4.17 WR Antonio Williams, 75, normal
5.17 LOLB Jeffery Bassa, 75 normal
6.13 QB Kaidon Salter, 72 normal
6.17 SS Brooks Miller, 64, normal
7.17 CB Toriano Pride Jr, 73, normal (best pick)

Overall a very deep class which is impressive with only 1 top 64 pick, with round 1 Giants got a certified CB1, and in the later rounds picked up 4 potential starters. Pride was a great find in round 7 who is nfl ready on day 1. I don’t think any of these picks after Brownlee will be superstars but I think all of them outside of the 6th round picks can be good starters.

Cincinnati Bengals, S1lent
1.3 ROLB Dasan McCullough, 76, Superstar
1.30 CB Gentry Williams, 76, Star
2.3 RB Quishon Judkins, 77, Superstar **Best Pick**
3.3 TE Corey Dyches, 61
4.3 LE Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, 71, Star
5.3 RT Elijah Prichett, 73
6.3 LT Zach Rice, 73
7.3 DT Sean FitzSimmons, 75

Boy did this draft give a starving fanbase something to cheer about. They rolled the dice on Dasan McCullugh and were rewarded handsomely with a 76 overall, 88 speed superstar that should be the playmaker they desperately needed on the defensive end. They also added day 1 start Gentry Williams towards the end of round 1, another home run by the rookie coach S1lent in his first days as Bengals coach. The steal of the draft has to be Quishon Judkins, who surprisingly fell to the second round past all the speed wh0res we have in the league. Judkins turned out to be a superstar, and gave the Bengals a threat to take the load off Joe Burrow. Ill give them a pass on their 3rd round pick who came in at a 61 overall? Maybe it was a heat check? Who knows, but that was an absolute waste of a selection in a spot where many teams were still finding gold. Bengals also secured some Oline depth towards the end of the draft, as well as a really nice day 1 starter in Sean FitzSimmons in a position they have vacant on the depth chart. Great job S1lent!

Cleveland Browns, KMFO
1.24 WR Evan Stewart, 77, Star
1.26 MLB Abdul Carter, 72, normal
2.30 DT Zxavian Harris, 74, Star ( best pick)
3.26 SS Justin Barron, 72, normal
3.30 RT Mitchell Walters, 70, Star
7.20 LG Taliese Fuega, 73, Star

Very solid class all around where I think all of them will be able to contribute. Evan Stewart is a great mouth to feed at 21 and solid skills and speed, should progress nicely. The next 3 picks attacked the defensive side of ball where they got guys who are great against the run game and Harris is even a great pass rusher at his big weight. Some star dev oline to finish off is also a good add with a clear skill of pass blocking

Baltimore Ravens, Arod
1.1 CB/WR Travis Hunter, 80, Xfactor
1.13 LT Kelvin Banks Jr, 76, SS
2.1 LG Trey Zuhn III, 75, normal
5.1 ROLB Jeremiah Alexander, 73, Star
6.1 LT Jalen Rivers, 64, normal
7.1 WR Barion Brown, 73, SS ( best pick)

First two picks were absolute home runs and will be cornerstones for the next decade. Zuhn is a very good all around starter with most pass blocking attributes at 80. And Alexander is an interesting hybrid Edge with 83 finesse and 67 zone but only 83 speed. Last but not least he found a hidden gem in Barion Brown who is 6’1, 92 speed, and a good route running along with the super star dev. He’s a must start from the 7th round.

Pittsburgh Steelers, Curt
1.19 DT Jaheim Oatis, 76, Superstar
3.1 RE Bear Alexander, 78 **Best Pick**
3.13 LOLB Jalon Walker, 74 Superstar
4.13 LT Josh Conerly Jr., 75
5.13 RG Joe Brunner, 73
5.26 MLB C.J. Hicks, 74 Star
7.13 CB Jacolby Spells, 73

What more can I say? Curt absolutely nailed this draft. He traded back from pick 1.13 to 1.19, acquiring a 3.1 in the process. So not only did he get his man Oatis at 19, who turned out to be an absolute monster DT who came in as a superstar, now an X-Factor, but he cashed that 3.1 into 78 overall RE Bear Alexander. Was Curt done yet? Nope. He snagged another superstar, OLB Jalon Walker, to join an already scary front 7 in Steele City. Done? Not yet, got MLB star CJ Hicks in the 5th. Used rounds 4 and 5 to build depth on the Oline. Job well done as the Steelers were able to draft 2 or 3 game changers, and 7 in total players who may very well be starters until the end of the cycle. Curt has always taken slack on his team building skills, but this right here, throw a little sugar on his name.

3.10 DT Kenneth Grant, 73, Normal
4.10 LOLB Cyrus Moss, 72, Normal
6.10 ROLB Jaylen Sneed, 72, Superstar ( Best Pick)
7.10 FS Kamari Wilson, 69, Normal

When you look at the picks individually and the needs of this team, the draft does not look bad. When you factor in they were missing a top 10 first pick because of a trade for oft injured Breece Hall it brings the entire draft class down. The 10th pick itself was moved for inside stuff Jonathan Allen, and the actual pick itself was a Superstar Safety. Adding either of those players to this draft class might push it to a higher grade. With that being said going 5-5 with 72 or better players on their first 5 picks including grabbing a SS dev linebacker late the Bears still pulled off quite a haul. A team that was short on depth picked up 5 pieces who can play and add to the team.

Detroit Lions, Fallen
1.23 WR Aaron Anderson, 72, Normal
4.5 QB Kyle McCord, 76, Normal ( Best Pick)
4.23 LE Devonte Omalley, 73, Star
6.23 CB Shyheim Battle, 69, Star
7.23 RG Tyler Miller, 72, Normal

We all know Fallen loves his fast weapons. He went out and took one of the fastest projected WR in the draft with Anderson at pick 23. The team already has a first round speedster in Jameson Williams, and a third round pick invested in 94 speed Andrew Armstrong. They did lose Amon-Ra to free agency but we would have loved to see them wait a bit longer for his replacement. They were missing draft picks from the Chris Jones trade but they would not have taken any one or two players in this draft to equal his value to the team. If this was the first draft of the cycle the 4th round McCord pick would have been magical. He wound up as one on the better stock Qbs this draft and was taken in the back half of the draft.

Green Bay Packers, Hypemike

2.29 CB Davison Igbinosun, 78, Normal ( Best Pick)
3.29 C Julian Armelia, 70, Normal
4.29 LG Hayden Connor, 68, Star
5.29 QB Devin Brown, 73, Normal
6.29 TE Jake Johnson, 76, Normal
7.29 MLB Carson Bruehner, 74, Normal

The Packers being a team with solid draft going into the draft looked to sure up a couple weak points. They were losing AAron Jones to free agency or regression so finding a replacement round one was a must. The pick wound up being gold. Normal dev doesnt hurt rb as much as other positions because they are easy to get for Rb it seems. Jawhar came stock with 95 speed, and if that was the only player for the entire draft for HypeMike he would have been a happy man. They added some depth pieces on the line as well as a 78 overall corner in round 2 and a 76 overall tight end in round 6. Solid draft hitting the spots the needed.

4.16 RB Trevor Etienne, 75, Star
4.19 DT Mason Graham, 78, Star
5.16 TE Jake Clemons, 66, Normal
6.16 LE Demon Clowney, 69 Normal

The Vikings hit on so many needs in this draft. It is one of my favorite draft classes this season. To start off they drafted stars at almost every pick it feels like. They added a huge playmaking safety in the first, and followed it up by selecting 3 starters in the second round. Loic is raw but has crazy top end speed and will see the field immediately. Booker should be a starter for the rest of the cycle, and Walker has looked amazing so far. This draft is just what the Vikings needed to get back to playoff form

4.9 WR Malcom Johnson Jr, 72,normal ( best pick)
5.9 QB Carson Beck, 71, normal
6.9 RE Keanu Koht, 66, star
7.9 LG J.B. Wilson, 73, normal

Huge pickup with their first rounder adding an xfactor CB to pair with kool aid. Two very solid WRs with Mcmillian being an all around physical guy and Johnson Jr has 94 speed and 97 catching which is definitely a special trait. Jayson Jones is a big 350 pounder with good pass rushing abilities and solid block shed. I don’t think the last 3 picks will win a starting job at any point but solid depth.

1.5 WR Luther Burden III, 78, Star
5.5 LG Jonah Savailinaea, 72, normal
6.5 CB Sam McCall, 69, normal
7.5 FB Caleb Driskill, 73 normal

Very shallow class that looks like it will produce only 1 starter in Luther Burden. I don’t love the pick with Xfactor Benjamin Morrison, SS Mykael Willams, and Harold Perkins all taken after. Wrwas probably a must Need but could’ve traded down and gotten someone not too far off as we saw an SS go in round 7.

4.14 WR Dominick Blaylock, 70, normal
4.30 SS Shylo Sanders, 73, Star

5.14 FB Maliq Carr, 65, normal
6.12 RB Marshawn Lloyd, 78, star ( best pick)
7.14 WR Kaden Saunders, 70, normal

Nwankpa looks to have SubLB potential and looks scary. and alot of the mid round picks are speed demons who are raw but will progress under coach Ke. Sneaky gem in Lloyd who is a little muscle hamster. Overall I’m not sure how many of them will be even a good starter this year but most of them could be a playmaker in a szn or two.

4.22 MLB D.J. Gordon IV, 72, Star
6.20 LOLB R Mason Thomas, 70, normal
7.30 C Nofoafia Tulafono, 68, normal

First two picks taken by the titans were absolute hits who both have potential to be top 5 at their position. I like Thomas Jr who’s 6’4 with 93 jump and 99 spec but his low route running will keep him closer to a good starter and getting Cade for cheap was a great move as their 2 other QBs may be looking to be paid eventually. DJ could also find himself as a starter one day. Overall very solid class But would’ve been perfect with one more starter.
