S03 Draft Grades Part 2: Panthers draft 17 players; could they possibly hit on all?

There is no one who loves handing out grades more than Arod, Greeny, and Matigy, so after the draft was over, we sifted through every team’s draft class and came up with a grade for each team.
For most teams, their best pick was the one they made in the first round, but we’ve decided to spice things up here by only listing each teams best pick outside the first round. With that in mind, lets get into draft grades, analysis, and best picks for all 32 teams.

____________________________________________________________________

Indianapolis Colts, CB
1.9 CB Benjamin Morrison, 79, Xfactor
2.9 WR Tetairoa Mcmillian, 74, normal
3.9 DT Jayson Jones, 71, normal
4.9 WR Malcom Johnson Jr, 72,normal ( best pick)
5.9 QB Carson Beck, 71, normal
6.9 RE Keanu Koht, 66, star
7.9 LG J.B. Wilson, 73, normal

Huge pickup with their first rounder adding an xfactor CB to pair with kool aid. Two very solid WRs with Mcmillian being an all around physical guy and Johnson Jr has 94 speed and 97 catching which is definitely a special trait. Jayson Jones is a big 350 pounder with good pass rushing abilities and solid block shed. I don’t think the last 3 picks will win a starting job at any point but solid depth.

Jacksonville Jaguars, Water
1.5 WR Luther Burden III, 78, Star
5.5 LG Jonah Savailinaea, 72, normal
6.5 CB Sam McCall, 69, normal
7.5 FB Caleb Driskill, 73 normal

Very shallow class that looks like it will produce only 1 starter in Luther Burden. I don’t love the pick with Xfactor Benjamin Morrison, SS Mykael Willams, and Harold Perkins all taken after. Wrwas probably a must Need but could’ve traded down and gotten someone not too far off as we saw an SS go in round 7.

Houston Texans, Keraun
1.14 FS Xavier Nwankpa, 74, Star
2.6 QB Malik Hornsby, 60 normal
3.6 CB Nyland Green, 73, normal
3.14 TE Jaleel Skinner, 72, normal
4.14 WR Dominick Blaylock, 70, normal
4.30 SS Shylo Sanders, 73, Star
5.10 MLB Josh White, 71, normal
5.14 FB Maliq Carr, 65, normal
6.12 RB Marshawn Lloyd, 78, star ( best pick)
7.14 WR Kaden Saunders, 70, normal

Nwankpa looks to have SubLB potential and looks scary. and alot of the mid round picks are speed demons who are raw but will progress under coach Ke. Sneaky gem in Lloyd who is a little muscle hamster. Overall I’m not sure how many of them will be even a good starter this year but most of them could be a playmaker in a szn or two.

Tennessee Titans, Dlloyd
1.20 LOLB Jihaad Campbell, 77, star
2.20 RB Nick Singleton, 76, Star (best pick)
3.20 WR Brian Thomas Jr, 75, normal
4.1 QB Cade Klubnik, 70, normal
4.22 MLB D.J. Gordon IV, 72, Star
6.20 LOLB R Mason Thomas, 70, normal
7.30 C Nofoafia Tulafono, 68, normal

First two picks taken by the titans were absolute hits who both have potential to be top 5 at their position. I like Thomas Jr who’s 6’4 with 93 jump and 99 spec but his low route running will keep him closer to a good starter and getting Cade for cheap was a great move as their 2 other QBs may be looking to be paid eventually. DJ could also find himself as a starter one day. Overall very solid class But would’ve been perfect with one more starter.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cammy
1.4 QB Jalen Milroe,71, Normal
3.18 CB Devin Moore, 75, Star
5.12 MLB Marvin Ham, 74, Superstar
5.18 LOLB Anto Saka, 69, Normal
7.12 FS Avantae Williams, 70, Normal
7.27 DT C.J Clark, 69, Normal
7.28 K Jack Browning, 75, Normal ( Best Pick)

The Bucs sold a lot of their premium draft picks for the chance to move up and get their guy. Jalen Milroe is a raw prospect and came out as expected with amazing speed but normal dev trait. I do not hate the move like many others but I still feel it was an overpay. If they feel he’s the guy to take them to the promised land then it is beyond worth the picks they gave up. They hit on a third round star cb and a 5th round SS mlb which really solidified their draft. 7th young Kicker browning came stock with 99 kick power as well which is a huge value in round 7.

Atlanta Falcons, Nef
2.21 WR Ladd McConkley, 74, Normal
3.21 MLB Eugene Asanta, 64, Star
4.20 TE Donovan Green, 76, Normal ( Best Pick)
5.19 LE Cam jackson, 69, Normal
5.20 CB Amorian Walker, 69, Normal
5.21 CB Dazjhon Malone,70, Star
6.21 WR Silas Bolden, 65, Normal
6.27 QB Jaxson Dart, 65, Normal
7.19 CB Travis Jay, 70, Star
7.21 MLB Cory Stover, 64, Normal

Coming into this draft the Falcons had one of if not the best/ deepest team in the league. When you have a roster like that you are mainly trying to fill depth spots in the draft and can maybe take a few more big swings then other teams can, The Falcons did not have a first round pick thanks to the waddle trade and if you factor him into this draft class they made out like bandits. In the second round they walked away with an excellent slot receiver to add to an already explosive wr core. TE Donovan Green coming out as a 76 overall in round 4 was a steal. A 7th round star dev corner and amazon arm talent dart in round 6 were great value picks.

Carolina Panthers, JT
1.12 RB Henry Parrish Jr, 70, Star
2.12 WR Munir McClain, 63, Normal
2.13 TE Jalin Conyers, 63, Normal
3.4 LE Zuriah Fisher, 73, Normal
3.5 DT Junior Tahfuna, 76, Normal
4.11 WR Jerand Bradley, 66, Normal
4.12 RE Jah Joyner, 70, Normal
4.32 TE Kyirin Heath, 66, Normal
5.6 WR Lorenzo Styles, 66, Superstar
6.4 TE Elijah Arroyo, 64, Star
6.7 CB Zah Frazier, 72, Normal
6.14 FB Dominique Johnson, 76, Normal
6.30 MLB Cal Halladay, 77, Star ( Best Pick)
6.32 DT Travis Shaw, 74, Normal
7.4 QB Donoven McCulley, 64, Normal
7.7 WR C.J. Hawkins, 64, Normal
7.8 RB Sam Adams, 72, Normal

The Panthers had two draft full of players taken in this draft which is quite insane. Panther drafts are always hard to grade because they usually target lower overall but crazy athletic prospects. This draft we saw quite a few of those, but we also saw great value picks. SS 77 overall MLB halladay in round 6 might have been one of the better picks in the entire draft value wise. The team sorely needed depth and they more then got it during this draft. 5 70+ players drafted round 6 and 7 really helped this class and the team

New Orleans Saints, JC
1.28 WR/QB Maalik Murphy, 72, Normal
3.28 FS Yamarcus Banks, 76, Normal ( Best pick)
4.28 RG Cole Hutson, 73, Star
5.28 LE Kenyetta Jackson, 69, Normal
6.28 FB Tyler Savage, 77, Normal

This draft was about one thing and one thing only, finding the qb of the cycle. They turned to Qb Turned Wr Maalik Murphy. They put him back at QB and he’s exactly what they wanted. A Qb to consistently escape the pocket and live and die outside the pocket. He came out as one of the better qbs of the draft even though he was listed as a WR. Add in 76 overall safety and a 73 star dev guard and they hit in later rounds as well.

Denver Broncos, DK
2.24 TE Mason Taylor, 74, Star
3.24 RE Omari Abor, 69
4.24 FS Keon Sabb, 73, Star
5.24 LOLB RaRa Dillworth, 67
7.24 SS Jacoby Matthews, 72, Star **Best Pick**
7.32 LT Hollin Pierce, 71

The Broncos didn’t draft until late in the 2nd, but when they did, they got their man in Mason Taylor a 6’6 TE with 87 speed to go with decent route running out the box. We know DK loves his tight ends, so when all is said and done, I expect Taylor to create some very difficult matchups for opposing safeties. Speaking of safeties, I loved the Sabb pick late in the 4th, adding a day-1 starter with a star dev is always a good thing. Together, he and Jacoby Matthews, another star dev who meets requirements for SubLB will create a great safety duo for the rest of the cycle. I have an early prediction we will see Matthews in the AFC DROY race.

Los Angeles Chargers, Codes
4.26 WR Devaugn Vele, 70
5.30 LE Derrick Harmon, 71, Star **Best Pick**
6.26 WR Kendrick Law, 71
7.26 LOLB Dameon Wilson, 73

Draft night must have been a real doozer in the Codes household this season. With 4 picks, and not selecting until the 4th round, seems the Chargers took the year off from serious scouting. For what its worth, 6th round pick Law has 3 receptions for 3 touchdowns. Pretty amusing statline, but not used much. Other than that, the draft seemed like a roster filler for the Chargers.

Kansas City Chiefs, Matigy
1.27 DT Tim Keenan III, 76, Star
2.23 SS Zion Branch, 77
3.27 TE Colston Loveland, 73, Star
3.33 LOLB Nic Scourton, 70
3.27 HB Daniyel Ngata, 74
4.27 RE Caleb Fox, 72
5.27 TE Jermaine Terry II, 74 *Best Pick*

Matigy didn’t hit any homeruns, but he did a great job of drafting serviable starters from start to finish that with a little love and AR, they could blossom into important pieces for a KC that is always in the AFC title conversation. Keenan III was a great addition in late 1st round, but what I really loved was the selections of Colston Loveland and Jermaine Terry II, a little TE roulette. It seems today that Terry is in line to take the torch from an aging and contract expiring Travis Kelce. It really opens things up with what they will decide to do with Kelce moving forward this season. Zion Branch has come in and plugged up the SS position from day 1 and playing at an high level so far. A very safe but effective draft in KC.

Las Vegas Raiders, Kingmike
1.8 DT Walter Nolen, 79, Star
2.8 CB Denver Harris, 75, Star **Best Pick**
4.8 WR Isaiah Bond, 74, Star
5.8, HB Justice Ellison, 73
5.23 RE Derrick Moore, 71, Star
6.8 WR Kobe Prentice, 71

King Mike really did his homework going into the draft. The Raiders drafted an impressive 4 out of 6 star players in the draft, a solid move for a team looking to utilize the AR system to build a team. My only issue would be taking Nolen when in my opinion Oatis was the better prospect at DT going into the draft. Nevertheless, Nolen in his own right is a solid player who will fill the gap for the rest of the cycle in Vegas. Denver Harris joins Hobbs Bennett and Davis in a crowded secondary that should ultimately see Harris emerge as CB to alongside Bennett by the end of the season. With the lack of size, I am sure they were looking for a bit more speed in Isaiah Bond, but he received the star dev so that is a solid foundation to build off of. Overall, great draft for the Raiders as we should see a handful of these guys emerge as top tier starters in no time.

San Francisco 49ers, CEO
1.2 QB Shedeur Sanders, 78, SS
2.2 ROLB Shemar James, 75, star
2.7 RE Dani Dennis-Sutton, 73, star
2.14 DT Justin Kirkland, 75, normal
3.2 LT Blake Miller, 73, star (best pick)
4.2 CB Brandon Adams, 75, normal
5.2 RG Miles Frazier, 72, star
5.22 WR Brashard Smith, 69, star
6.2 QB Connor Weighman, 68, normal
7.2 TE Dan Villari, 60, normal

You got your franchise QB in shedur who has the physicals and dev along with NFL ready skills to be that guy day 1. And the rest of the class is very good, Shemar is an athletic 4-3 LB with the skills to be good, Dani is a solid edge well rounded with good finesse. Kirkland & Blake are day 1 above average starters and overall I think the 49ers drafted 8 starters! Sadly we know they won’t all get AR

Arizona Cardinals, Que
1.22 RT Will Campbell, 77, Star
2.22 LE Jahfari Harvey, 73, Star ( Best Pick)
3.22 RE Anthony Lucas, 69. Normal
6.22 RG Renato Brown, 70, Normal
7.22 RB Branson Robinson, 71, Normal

The Cardinals did not have many picks in this draft but tried to make the best of what they had. First round pick Campbell was selected to help handle the great front 4s in their division and they knocked it out of the park with him being 77 overall and star dev. Second round pick Harvey wound up with elite speed off the edge and star dev as well making him their best non first rounder easily.

Los Angeles Rams, Cookie
1.32 TE R.J. Maryland, 75, Normal
2.32 SS Devon Jackson, 71, Normal
3.32 CB Azareyeh Thomas, 71, Normal
4.4 RE Achton Gillotte, 71, Star
5.32 WR Colby Bowman, 72 Normal
6.24 FS Terrance Brooks, 70, SS

The Rams hardly ever have premium picks in the draft without trades, and this draft was similar. They didnt make many trades and had the last pick in most rounds but still walked out of the draft with some starter caliber players. TE Maryland looks like a certified stud in round one, Thomas the Cb taken in round 3 has elite elite speed, and they had possibly the steal of the draft with Brooks being SS off rip in round 6. He’s also on the path to being sub eligible. Without many picks, and only 2 picks in the first 64 picks they crushed this draft.

Seattle Seahawks, Zstvr
1.18 RE Ethan Burke, 74, Star
2.18 WR Lemeke Brockiington, 73, Normal
3.12 CB Will Johnson, 75, Star ( Best Pick)
6.18 LOLB Morice Blackwell, 67, Normal
7.18 RB Andrew Paul, 76, Normal

Another NFC west draft without many picks in the draft. I would have loved to see z make some moves to pick up extra picks and really fil out some depth pieces but they did well with that in fa. First round pick Burke being star dev off rip was a nice haul, but the best pick of their draft was Will Johnson. Star dev third rounder fits perfectly what they like to do on defense. He should be able to learn quickly behind one of the best corner duos in the league and be solid in the slot or on the outside. Add in a 76 overall rb in round 6 and they wound up with a few players who should see the field season 1.
