PML Reality Checks S03W08: No more Super Bowls for the NFC? S1lent a flop says…

Joe Burrow will be out his abilities by week 10
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
A real unfortunate reality. He sits at 23 interceptions, and we are only into week 8 of the regular season. At the rate he is going, pacing for 55+, I think it is a strong possibility one of Madden’s best quarterbacks becomes just another Joe Smo thanks to our interception regression program. Here is the thing though, I don’t know if the rulebook is updated to reflect this rule (maybe?), nor do I think our rookie coach S1lient was even aware of this rule until maybe it was too late. At any case, for the 2nd time this cycle, Joe will lose his abilities and the Bengals will be stuck trying to figure out ways to compete against the Browns without their biggest weapon. I say that to say this, educate the new folks on all these stats. I believe I may have been the one to inform the new coach about RB/WR usage rules as well, as he was very unaware of this also. We’re looking at Chase, Higgins, Judkins suspensions as well this year the way things currently stand. Need freshman orientation for new members.

NFC will not win a Super Bowl title Season 3-5
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
We are almost at the official halfway point of the cycle, and through 2 complete seasons the Super Bowl count stands at Cook 2, PML 0. Kudos to the Rams, but I think that was the final time we see the Lombardi Trophy in the NFC for the rest of the cycle. Several NFC ‘powerhouses’ look very vulnerable this season. HypeMike is sitting at 3-3, Rams are 2-4, and JC, when he was finally tested by the Seahawks, dropped that game. So where does that leave us? Other users with previous Super Bowl games on their resume include Jefe and Z, both solid users, but not sure if they would be able to take down some of the top guys in the AFC. If I had to rank some of the top AFC teams this year, the list would include Browns, Chiefs, Patriots, Chargers, and the Broncos. Would it be a hot take to say they would provide a very difficult game to whomever the NFC sends if they had to play any of these AFC teams? As much as the NFC users want to argue they have the ‘premier’ division, I think its an easy tell that the AFC is where the big boys play. I got AFC taking the Super Bowl for the remaining 3 seasons. Tell me your thoughts!

Silent Was A Flop
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
I hate to say it this early on, but Silent came in with a lot of hype from CEO and HypeMike. They were glowing about how he is going to be able to fully take advantage of the Cincinnati Bengals, and there was discussion in the offseason for Burrow to keep his abilities, since a new user was coming in. Well we are through week 7, and Joe Burrow has 23 Interceptions on the season already. I think it’s safe to say that Burrow will not have X-Factor this time next year, and if he does, then that means we have a new Bengals Head Coach, although I do not wish that upon him. I think a big part of it is how many leagues he is in. If you are in a ton of leagues, then maybe a new league could feel like more of a chore, as you may not be as invested into it. However, if I join a new league, I try to fully take advantage of it and learn as much as possible, which I would say is definitely required in the Premier Madden League. Maybe he will come around, and I hope he does, but I’m not sure he will. Only time will tell how Silent will develop this season.

Z is Going to Win the NFC West
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
Well we are now in Season 3, and Z now has his team back after some gruesome injuries last year. CEO has struggled, and the streets say especially against Z, or really DK Metcalf. Que is well.. a ghost (of Tsushima), and Cook has gotten off to a rough start of 2-4, which includes a couple fair sim losses, and just a tough early on schedule combined with some really bad injuries. Put that all together, and that’s how you get to 2-4 as the former Super Bowl champ. It looks like all of the stars are aligning for Z to make the West his this season, and he will have an easier schedule to do so as well, as Cook will have the first place schedule for winning the division last year. Will this be Z’s year to set himself up for success? The NFC appears to be weaker through 7 weeks, but it’s way too early on to really tell if that is the case. This will be an interesting development to keep tabs on though, as the NFC has taken the title in both seasons that have taken place so far, and they were taken home by Cook and his Los Angeles Rams.

Sim Score should be brought back
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
For numerous reasons I believe the sim score should remain a part of pml. I don’t believe it is as necessary as it was in the past, but it would help make some good changes for the league currently. The kick return run out of the end zone click off and cpu magically takes you to the ball with a speed boost would be ELIMINATED already if the users using it would be docked on their sim score reports. If someone lost a QB for a game or two suspension due to low sim score do you really think we would still see that nonsense ? Absolutely not. That is just one harsh example but it would clean up some other gameplay as well. We have heard all cycle long “ All you ran was rpo” ( A good chunk of the league is guilty of running a ton of rpo atp) if someone was actually only running rpo then they would have their sim score docked and it would not even be a convo anymore. Last reason I will drop is with the talk that just went on in gen chat. I’ve been out but just caught a bit of it talking about the cycle rankings and people asking why some people’s scores were higher or lower, if sim scores were still in the league, AND taken seriously then you can have an easy way to rank / quantify someones “sim ability”

TC needs a complete overhaul
Reality or Overreaction: Reality
This has been a hot topic all cycle it seems like. I know I have mentioned it before plenty of times, as well as many others. The fact we just saw a trade get approved AFTER the player involved was already traded was wild. Instead of just arguing I would say everyone agrees something needs to change, but what exactly ?

A couple options imo could be,
-Everyone who would want to be a part of tc enters their name to Jt.
Everyone gets to vote for 6 members ( Not including themselves)
Jt takes the top 5 vote recipients and there’s our new TC
– We could make it so tc is less impactful. Part of why a tc is needed in a Madden franchise is to eliminate people from demolishing a team and dipping. Now people will still try to ruin their teams but people do not come and go often here so if someone makes a bad trade they will have to live with it. With that being said, any trade involving two members who each have been here for 2 cycles should have automatic approval if within a threshold on the trade calc. Make that threshold closer and let folks run their teams. For any trades involving someone in their first cycle then it goes through to a tc which wouldn’t be often as new members cannot trade for 8 weeks either way.

There are plenty of things we can do, but something must be done quickly.
