What are your thoughts about the Bengals going into this week?
We have to slow down Joe Burrow and that passing game. He is leading the league is passing yards for a reason and we have to make sure we don't get into a shootout with him. We need to build off what we did well that first matchup, we forced a lot of turnovers and only gave up 2 explosive plays the entire game. Other than those 2 plays, we hardly gave up any drives so we need to keep that going. Offensively, we are down Cam Jenkins but DJ has been tremendous for us in the first 7 weeks so he is excited to get back out there and continue what he started for us.
As far as complementary football, what the offense and the defense are doing as we look at dominating games, how do you feel you guys are getting close to that point, as far as complete domination from start to finish?
In order to truly dominate and not just win games, you have to play great defense. You need to limit the time the opposing offense is on the field via turnovers or forcing punts, that way your offense can get back on the field and score points. The bend but don't break philosophy of defense will only get you so far because the best offenses will find a way to score TDs when they're in the Red-zone. You have to take the opponents will from him by not even allowing him to get first downs. Every yard should feel like a challenge for your opponent to gain.
What stands out about your opponent's offense?
I think it's very unique to play against somebody at the PML level who uses coach suggestions for 95% of their play calls. That's raises big question marks in defending tendencies because he doesn't just have go-to playcalls he'll cycle to every time he needs a good play. You kind of have to play more honest to every possibility of pass concept because he is only calling from the plays that are being shown to him in the suggestions.
