Transcript: Browns Head Coach Press Conference

What were the keys to the team’s victory this week?

We really did an amazing job defensively taking the ball away forcing 6 interceptions. We certainly did not have the level of shutdown pass coverage that we'd talked about we needed to truly dominate, but our takeaways we caused contributed largely to our 63 points we scored. Jase McClellan also carried our offense with over 200 all purpose yards and 4 total TDs. It was his coming out game as he is pushing for the starting role even after Smoke Harris comes back from injury in another week.

How has Logan Ryan’s experience in the league helped the team so far?

Logan was a signing that we felt we needed and should have taken care of earlier in the year. We stress the importance of filling our position groups with veteran mentors, but a string of injuries early in the year handcuffed the moves we could make with bringing new guys on the roster. We had to make sure we had enough healthy bodies to dress for the game. Now that we got some guys back healthy, bringing in Logan to mentor our safety room is invaluable. We have 4 safeties that start or play a considerable amount of time on the field that are 23 or younger. So, they need to learn the level of professionalism that it takes to excel at their position for a long time.

What is the status of Justin Rogers and when is he set to return?

His injury will challenge our defense because he has been developing so well since last season. He anchors our interior defensive line. However, the tear in his abdomen is looking like a 3-4 week injury so we are hoping to get him back after our bye week coming up in a few weeks.
