Are you seeing the speed of the game starting to slow down for some of the rookies?
I am. With how some rookies have adjusted over the season.. our guys like: Sonny Styles, Harold Perkins, etc. They've all over the season got adjusted to the game found out the differences from the college level to the pro level. Our rookie class had a great first year, and we're hoping they take that next step and go bigger and better.
The defense is getting a lot of criticism lately for their level of play. Are you planning to make any changes?
It was a rough season for the defense but we're all about progress and noticing things here in Washington. However, over the season – especially the latter half we felt progress. The team was forcing more turnovers, sacks, and allowing less yardage. We feel like we found a defensive scheme that we like and we're going to carry it into next season and hope it translates to more wins.
Can you speak to the overall team health?
The team health over the course of the year was horrible, I'm going to be honest. We had players dropping left and right, struggling week in and week out with fitness. However, we flip to a new page in our book.. it's a fresh season, we want to enter week one with an entirely healthy squad. You know what they say, availability is the best ability and we want to be able to have that in Washington.
