What were the keys to the team’s victory this week?
Stopping Mr. Braelon. All week we focused on getting multiple hats to the ball to help slow down this potent Panthers run game. We even lost our team captain and leader of the defense Fred Warner for the week because of how intense our practices were gearing up for this game. Kudos to Earnest Jones for walking in the building off the street on 3 days notice and giving us some tackles in the victory. Very appreciative of his effort. It was a great team win and proud of the defense responding after week 1.
Can you talk about what it’s like to prepare to go against a player like Bryce Young?
We respect Bryce and the extreme physical talent that the Panthers have at receiver but we know their gameplan revolves around turning around and handing the ball off. Bryce then is able to use playaction and moving the pocket to find his receivers behind the second level defenders. By making them not really one dimension but in keeping them in second and third and long we were able to force Bryce into throwing four interceptions. Any time you are able to force that many turnovers is a good day at the office and it was a big part of our turning the game around in our favor from a 0-10 deficit to a 27-10 victory.
How has Davante Adams’s experience in the league helped the team so far?
Davante is such a cool character. I think he helps keep the wide receiver room locked in and focused on their tape and focused on their craft. We appreciate his leadership. And he is great for Sanders in his second year in the league. If I was a young quarterback, I would want a security blanket that is sure fire hall of a famer. Davante's resume speaks for itself and he always is open. You can't argue with that.
