Before we dive into the details of the game, I want to make something very clear: this performance was not acceptable. We, as a team, are much better than what we’ve shown in the past two weeks, and it starts with me as the head coach.
Let’s talk about the game. Losing 47-16 to the Buffalo Bills is a tough pill to swallow. We didn’t execute on offense, defense, or special teams. We have to be better in all phases of the game, and it starts with preparation.
Shedeur Sanders, our quarterback, had a rough game, completing just 9 out of 28 passes for 241 yards with 1 touchdown and 6 interceptions. Shedeur, we know you have the talent and capability to lead this team, but we need to make better decisions and take care of the football. It’s a learning experience, and we’ll work through it together.
Our running game was nearly non-existent. Brandon Crews had 4 carries for 19 yards and 1 touchdown. We need to establish a stronger ground game to balance our offense and take pressure off our quarterback. This is something we’ll focus on in the upcoming practices.
George Kittle was a bright spot with 4 receptions for 110 yards. He continues to be a reliable target and a leader on this team. However, we need more contributions from everyone on the offense. It’s a team effort, and we must all step up.
Defensively, we allowed Josh Allen to complete 12 of 15 passes for 243 yards and 3 touchdowns. That’s unacceptable. We have to get more pressure on the quarterback and tighten up our coverage. Clark Phillips III had a solid game with 7 tackles, but we need a collective effort from the entire defense to improve our performance.
As the head coach, I take full responsibility for our performance. This loss, like the last one, is on me and the coaching staff. We need to do a better job preparing our team and putting them in positions to succeed. We’re going to work harder than ever to correct these mistakes. I vow that no one will outwork me or this coaching staff as we figure this out.
We have to get back to the basics, focus on fundamentals, and bring a renewed intensity to our practices. Our fans deserve better, and we owe it to them to turn this around. We have the talent, and we have the capability. Now, it’s about execution and heart.
We’ll regroup, we’ll refocus, and we’ll come back stronger. Thank you. Any questions?
