Eagles Offensive Breakdown

The Premier Madden League’s new cycle is about to kick off. Coach Burn has been officially hired as the new head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are bringing back Burn for another cycle after having him as their coach just a few cycles ago. Coach Burn had this to say about being hired as the new head coach, ” I am excited to be here with this team. The team has changed dramatically since I was head coach and we will be installing a new approach to the team.” I have seen the roster and I will be going over both the offensive and defensive depth charts.  We will go position by position and have a small breakdown of each player on the starting roster, starting with the Quarterback.

Quarterback: Jalen Hurts 87 OVR

Hurts has his contract and will be the starting QB for the Eagles the entire cycle. He is a player that has a playstyle on the run. If you can get him on the edge, he will make plays either with his arm or feet. He is a player that the defense will need to always account  one defender for which will open up things for the offense. He has one ability slot left and with a few upgrades, he is hoping to get something game changing.

Running Back: Saquon Barkley 92 OVR

Barkley was the big splash player of the offseason. Getting a player like Barkley at the running back position combined with the threat of Hurts running ability should open up lanes for the offense. In addition to this, Barkley is one of the better pass catching backs in the league and will look to use this ability to help their team. Coach Burn is no stranger to Barkley and will look to get the ball to him early and often. Barkleys only downside is his age combined with the strict regression that comes with the running backs in PML.

Tight End: Dallas Goedert 86 OVR

Goedert is a perfect combination of a reliable pass catcher mixed with run blocker. His ability to do both as well as have the speed to outrun the defense makes him someone that Hurts can and has always relied on. He has two years left on his contract, however, regression could hit him hard in the offseason.

Wide Receivers:  A.J Brown 95 OVR, DeVonta Smith 88 OVR, Jahan Dotson 76

While these receivers aren’t the fastest in the league, you’d find it hard to name a better receiving trio then them. All three can beat man and zone coverage, with Brown being able to take on almost all of the corners in the league and win. Neither of them will be the focal point of the offense but all of them have the capability to lead the team in receptions, touchdowns or both. When you have three receivers who can do this, it makes the defense have to be able to defend them all instead of blanketing one and nobody else being able to do anything. Dotson will start in the slot, however, depending on the offensive package and defensive game plan all three will be moved around on the field.

Offensive Line: RT Lane Johnson 95 OVR, RG Mekhi Becton 76, C Cam Jurgens, LG Landon Dickerson 86, LT Jordan Mailata 89

While they aren’t the best offensive line in the league, they certainly are one of the best. With three players over 80 and one superstar player, this offensive line should have at least one who makes the pro bowl by season’s end.  They are able to pass and run block which will be important this season as they play a lot of teams with great pass rushers. The way they hold up will be the key for Hurts and the rest of the offense. Their one weak link at center will either make or break them. I’m confident that when free agency opens up this will be addressed there.
