Can you talk about the development of Joe Alt so far?
It's tough for rookie tackles in this league with just how ferocious, strong, and quick professional edge rushers but Alt has held his own and has been an afterthought, which is a good thing for offensive linemen. He's not committing penalties, he's holding up in 1 on 1s for long enough, and he's winning the LOS on run downs. We hope to see him take that step as a superstar offensive linemen, but he's truly one of the best rookie tackles I've ever seen. Helps with his massive frame.
What is the status of Connor McGovern and when is he set to return?
Connor McGovern is luckily set to return next week as he's been sorely missed on the offensive line in the last couple weeks. Especially, last week when the Denver Broncos front 7 ran through the Chargers line in pass protection. While the Broncos did well of the edge, a boost to the middle with the veteran McGovern will surely help as he's a reliable starting center and the double teams can be focused on edge rushers.
Did you scout Marvin Harrison Jr before the draft? If so, what stood out about him?
Yes, heavily, he's the best wide receiver prospect I've ever seen and he'll surely deliver and be an elite receiver for years to come. Especially with our problems, in the DB room we are hoping our best to bracket and contain a player like him. He's tall and can make any contested contorting catch, and he'll run right by you with his speed, route running, and agility. Scary player.
How do you see the competition level in the AFC West currently?
Extremely high. Kansas CIty has won the last two Super Bowls and look like their still in form to achieve that, the Denver Broncos look rejuvenated and like a true contender with Bo Nix, and the Raiders have a good amount of talent and once they find QB continuity they will succeed, they might have already found it with Max Duggan.
