Week 7 Snapshot

This will be a weekly series where I will be looking at the box score and giving a summary/ my thoughts of how I felt each game went if I was able to watch it. This may change as the season goes on and the article progresses but for now this is how it is.

Broncos 17 VS Saints 28

This was a sim game in which the Saints owner attempted to reach out on the last day. Cook never responded.

Patriots 27 VS Jaguars 37

I watched some of this game early on and saw the Patriots up 21-7 and then had to get off but turned back in later in the game and the Patriots were down but driving. They were at midfield then Nef called a weird play action that had Maye rolling left but trying to stop and throw right which turned into a terrible pass thrown right to the Jaguar linebacker. The Patriots have been playing well despite the roster, and they are going to kick themselves after this one. They could have kept the lead and won the game but mistakes let the Jaguars back and they capitalized on them. The Jaguars are climbing up their division and look to be the favorite at the moment.

Seahawks 70 VS Falcons 31

One week it seems like Arod is right there about to get his first win, then the next week something like this happens. This was just straight up obliteration, but it’s not the highest score we’ve seen this season. The Seahawks had 8 total offensive touchdowns with 4 coming from the run and 4 coming from the pass. Walker ran it 35 times for 232 yards and 2 touchdowns. Looking at these stats, no backups seem to be subbed in and a suspension will be coming.

Tians 25 VS Bills 32

So close yet so far for Miles and the Titans. Miles didn’t like his team selection but aside from a couple of early blowouts, he has been playing decently with them. This was a battle of Levis versus Allen which Allen won but only narrowly. Levis threw 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions while Allen threw for 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. Both of them had about the same amount of passing yards thrown. Miles is showing that he can keep up with the elite teams of the AFC as the Bills are the only undefeated team left in the league. I know this was a loss, but if Miles can keep Levis turnovers down, he still has a shot in this game and his division.

Bengals 27 VS Browns 31

This was a great game and it came down to the end! Vet had the lead and I honestly thought he was going to win but HD was able to score a touchdown with almost no time remaining. Vet continues to put together these close good games and one of these days he is gonna break through and win big. Burrow had a lot of interceptions thrown early in the season, however, these past few games his turnovers are less, which keeps the Bengals in these games. This was a good division win for HD, however, we have a lot of madden left and I can see either of these guys win the division.

Texans 24 VS Packers 37

The Packers are on a roll and they continued those winning ways in these games. Both these quarterbacks played well by throwing only 1 interception, however, Love bested Stroud’s touchdowns by throwing 3 instead of 2. This extra interception, combined with a lost fumble are the reason that the Texans lost. The Packers were projected to be a top team this cycle, and were a good test to see where Ant and his Texans were. He played well in the game and just needs this to translate to his other games. The AFC South is wide open so smart playing will be needed to jump ahead.

Colts 35 VS Dolphins 14

Tua literally had almost as many interceptions as he did completions. He threw 14 completions and had 6 interceptions. It got so bad that the backup Thompson came in. He actually played okay, he had 5 completions for 88 yards, with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. I know the throw power can be an issue and maybe that’s what Curt’s issue with Tua is but at some point you have to adjust or it’s going to be a lost season. I believe he can turn it around especially in a weak AFC that after week 7 only has 6 teams with a winning record. This was a good win for the Colts to stay in the race for the south.

Lions 14 VS Vikings 36

This was a bout that I thought was going to be a close game between two of the top teams not only in the NFC but the league itself. It didn’t quite go as well as I thought, and that was due to great defensive play from the Vikings. They were able to force 4 Stafford interceptions and hold Williams to only 69 yards. Williams has been taking the league by storm and the Vikings stood firm and showed that as of now, they are the top team in the NFC. These two have another matchup near the end of the season and I expect that one will be much closer. It could determine who wins this division.

Eagles 17 VS Giants 35

This was supposed to be a good game, and it turned into a nightmare for me. The game started out close and just meshed into a game where it was pick after pick after pick thrown. I was seeing things on the field that I felt were open, only for the defender to either step in front or come back to the ball and pick it off. Two distinctive plays came to mind when thinking about this game. In the first half near the redzone, I threw the ball to my tight end only for Jefe’s user to pick it off on one of those over the back interceptions. He took his user and pressed the slot receiver all the way back to the left tackle, but was fast enough to run back to where the tight end was to pick the ball off. The other play was on a streak to my right outside wide receiver who had Banks beat badly. I threw a lob pass expecting a touchdown, only to have Banks catch up and intercept the ball. I didn’t think the Giants had that type of catch up speed, but it’s something I didn’t take into account and it burned me. It was a great defensive win for the Giants.

Raiders 46 VS Rams 40

Danny Gray hasn’t been changed to a running back yet, but that didn’t matter in this game. The Raiders are proving that he can be an effective wide receiver and he took over this game. The Rams tried to play man defense, thinking that his low overall would mean that he wouldn’t get open. The man has 95 speed, he is going to beat defenders in man while being motioned around the field. It was a close game, however, Stafford threw a trio of interceptions that could have been a drive that made a difference. The Rams had a good running game going and abandoned it. Maybe if they stuck with it, then things would have been different. Nonetheless, the Raiders are playing extremely well and will need to continue if they want to compete with the Chiefs.

Panthers 42 VS Commanders 45

This game was a lot closer than the spread that was predicted. Bryce Young took over the game and threw all over the Commander defense. It’s a good thing that the Commander offense can keep up with the points that the defense gives up. They wouldn’t be having quite the success they have been if so. The most impressive part about this Commander team is that the offense has put up so many yards and points yet they have a quarterback that leads the league in interceptions. It is truly impressive to see the team thriving when they have things like this holding them back.

Chiefs 52 VS 49ers 31

These two teams are the highest overall in the league at the moment and it wasn’t a surprise that it was a high scoring game. It’s very hard for a defense to contain Mahomes, however, if anyone had the pieces to do it then it would be the 49ers. This wasn’t the case as Mahomes was nearly perfect, going 18/22 for 279 yards and 3 touchdowns. The run game had a total of 173 yards rushed for. When you combine a successful run game with Mahomes then you have a team that could be Superbowl bound.

Jets 51 VS Steelers 10

This is the type of wins that Aaron Rodgers expected when he came to the Jets. Rodgers may have his best game in PML ever in this game. He was 19/23 for 292 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception. That 1 interception was a bad mark on his record but in the long run it doesn’t matter when your defense forces the other guy to throw 5 interceptions. The Steelers offense was run by Wilson in this one and it didn’t go well. They couldn’t run or pass and it just has been more of the same from a team that just keeps on falling.

Ravens 14 VS Buccaneers

Casper is showing that he is the real deal this season. He was known for his tendency to throw interceptions last cycle which resulted in lost games. Well this season, he is still throwing interceptions, however, he is also throwing touchdowns which is winning games. As long as you’re winning games then do whatever it takes even if it results in a bunch of interceptions. Baker has been compared to Josh Allen in the league and he made his best impression in this one. He threw for 273 yards, 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. He bested both Jackson and Huntley and forced the Ravens to take a look at their offense going forward.

Chargers 24 VS Cardinals 27

This was a sim game that was surrounded by controversy. What started with a dm scheduled game ended in a sim game. The Chargers missed the originally agreed upon game time but attempted to play at other times during the week but that didn’t work for the Cardinals.  This thread had over 100 messages which I think is a record and is definitely a record for a game that had to be simmed.
