Transcript: Titans Head Coach Press Conference

Can you talk about what it’s like to prepare to go against a player like Christian Gonzalez?

It's tough to prepare against one of the best cornerbacks in the league. He's young and up-coming, he had a great rookie season for the Patriots and can only expect the next step and more growth on his end this season. He will guard everyone at once, travel with your best wide receiver. He's one of those players who you have to plan your whole offense around. It's harder for guys to get open on the field, but we'll do our best to figure it out.

Over your career, what makes a team better at not turning the ball over as the season goes along? What kind of things you need to emphasize? How much of it is coaching? How much of it is a mental part? Physical part?

Turning the ball over is what has lost us six games this season. We've managed to get points, get the stops but games are lost when in crucial moments of the game we turn the ball over. We've had plenty of chances to shut out a game, or come back and orchestrate a clutch drive. It hasn't happened. A lot of it is on coaching, we need to do better. At the same time Will, he has to make the better reads and take what's given to him rather than forcing it downfield and putting his wide receivers in a bad position. We'll continue to work on it and try to improve on it.

What were some of the contributing factors to the loss this week?

This was probably the toughest loss to take. The Patriots are in a similar boat as us, we felt like this was a game we could win but ultimately didn't. Truth be told, that game was lost in the first quarter. We couldn't get anything going in the first quarter on offense and we struggled to stop the run, then they caught us on play-action a few times. It was a lot that went wrong and we were chasing the game until it was unattainable anymore. We need to be better.
