Transcript: Colts Head Coach Press Conference

How quickly can you tell if a young player is a football player if he thinks about it because it seems like at the Combine they’re all saying the right thing and it’s the job. How quickly does it take?

It takes time to figure out if a kid's got what it takes to be a real football player. The combine is cool and all, but it's just one piece of the puzzle. You gotta look at the whole package. Is he a good dude? Does he get it? Can he take a beating and keep coming back for more? Some guys show up and look like they're ready to take on the world right away, but others need a little more time to find their footing. It's all about the big picture, man. You gotta see how they handle adversity, how they respond to coaching, and if they've got that extra something that separates the good from the great.

Can you describe kind of the energy or the mood and the vibe in the building now coming in the home stretch?

The energy in the building is electric right now. There's a sense of excitement and anticipation. The fans are fired up, the players are focused, and the coaching staff is determined to finish strong. It's a great atmosphere to be a part of, and I'm confident that our team is ready to make a playoff push.

The defense is getting a lot of criticism lately for their level of play. Are you planning to make any changes?

The defense has been facing some challenges lately, and we're not satisfied with their performance. We're constantly evaluating our personnel and making adjustments as needed. We're looking to improve our communication, execution, and overall playmaking ability. We're confident that our defense has the talent and the potential to be a dominant unit. We're going to continue to work hard, make the necessary changes, and strive to play at a high level.
