Did you scout Mike Hall Jr before the draft? If so, what stood out about him?
I remember back in the day he was an X-Factor, oh how the might have fallen. He is still a decent player especially for a rookie, but our defensive line has been a strength this season so no regrets there. They are getting up there in age, but we have young interior guys like Jowonn Briggs, Justin Eboigbe, and Jaquelin Roy on the practice squad may earn a roster spot next season.
How do you see the competition level in the AFC West currently?
Extremely high. The Broncos finally found a new coach and now I could see what I thought would happen this season and still almost did. All 4 of us making the playoffs. I want to beat them head to head every time, but it makes it mean that much more if they're good.
Many rank your offensive line as one of the best in the league. How important is having a great offensive line?
It definitely didn't start the as one of the best, but I'd agree it is now. Joe Alt has developed fast and well, Rashawn Slater will make it the best tackle duo in the league when he hits 92 overall next season and gets superstar abilities, Zion Johnson and Tyler Steen have been very good young guards, and the veteran center Connor McGovern rounding it out. Having a high quality line opens up so much more in both the run and pass game, and lets us handle those high end defenders with a little less stress.
