QB: Jalen Milroe, New York Jets
Milroe was the #1 pick for a reason. Elite arm and elite speed with solid accuracy. He also has a good chance at a high dev for winning the Heisman. The Jets made a ton of moves this offseason, all leading up to taking Milroe with the first pick.
HB: Ashton Jeanty, Carolina Panthers
Jeanty was the top RB taken off the board, going at #8. He comes in as the highest overall RB with good all around stats. We shall see how much of a workload he gets in Carolina. He could also be used some as a slot receiver with his receiving attributes that are similar to some WR taken in this draft.
Honorable Mention: Nicholas Singleton, Philadelphia Eagles.
WRs: Travis Hunter – Carolina Panthers, Luther Burden – Pittsburgh Steelers, Kendrick Law – Chicago Bears
Hunter was by far the best prospect in this class, and I am happy that he went to Carolina where I think he will be used to his full potential. Luther Burden is a great all around receiver who is just as dangerous after the catch as he is before. Kendrick Law is the best deep threat in the class outside of Hunter. He goes to an offense where he has a clear role and is surrounded by plenty of receiving talent.
TE: Colston Loveland, Philadelphia Eagles
Definitely not the strongest TE class, but Loveland was the clear top guy. He has the speed and route running to beat linebackers, while also having the strength to be a plus blocker in the run game. Philly had a good draft, maybe not always taking the biggest need, but taking BPA often.
OL: Will Campbell, Baltimore Ravens or Kelvin Banks Jr, Los Angeles Rams
This choice depends on if you value pass or run blocking more. Campbell is the better run blocker and Banks is the better pass protector. DJ Campbell is a great player too but not as refined as Campbell and Banks
EDGE: James Pearce Jr, Washington Commanders and Nic Scourton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Pearce is the clear #1, he has the speed off the edge that very few have. He also has the strength to hold up in the run game. The second spot is much more up for debate than the first. I chose Scourton because of his all around game and youth. He is 20 years old and will progress very quickly. Scourton may not have the speed that some other top edge rushers have, but he is an all around player who could even kick inside on obvious pass situations.
DT: Deone Walker, Buffalo Bills, Mason Graham, Denver Broncos
These two guys can be the center piece of your defense. Both are monsters in the middle that can control the run game and get after the QB as well. I love both of these players as well as Walter Nolen, and can’t believe they fell as far in the draft as they did.
LB: Harold Perkins, Chicago Bears – Barrett Carter, Las Vegas Raiders
Perkins is the clear #1 LB in the class. He stands out with 92 speed but I think that his 90 change of direction may be his best attribute for playing the middle of the field. Barrett Carter is a great pick at the top of the second round, good speed, coverage, and even could be a solid blitzer.
CB: Benjamin Morrison – Indianapolis Colts, Daylen Everette – New York Giants, Will Johnson – San Francisco 49ers
These guys are all great cover guys out of the box. All have plus speed and are going to places where they will be able to step in right away and contribute. All were taken in the first round and rightfully so. Depending on what you value you could swap out one of these guys for someone taller or faster, but as all around CBs, these guys are your top 3.
S: Malaki Starks – Pittsburgh Steelers, Andrew Mukuba – Las Vegas Raiders
Starks and Mukuba are some of the better safety prospects I can remember in PML. Both are elite speed guys who can play both man and zone, as well as hit hard. I don’t think safety is a position that you typically draft very high, but these guys are certainly worth it.
