Eagles Offseason: Trades

The Eagles offseason in regards to trades was the most that Coach Burn has ever done in one season. In this article we will take a look at all the trades that were made and any that could be coming in the future. So far this offseason the Eagles have made 5 trades, with 4 before the draft and 1 during the draft.

Eagles/Texans Trade:

Eagles Send: Johnny Wilson

Texans Send: Pick 102 (R4/P6)

This was a no brainer deal for the Eagles. THe Texans wanted Wilson since the start of last season, however, he was on the no trade list until this offseason. The original price that I wanted was a third given the potential he has but that was too steep for the Texans. After realizing that I would never use him, we agreed on a 4th round pick. This was a great deal for both teams.

Eagles/Rams Trade:

Eagles Send: MLB VanSumeren

Rams Send: Pick 169 (R6/P9)

The Rams roster was in rough shape and they needed some speed on the defense, especially a player that Fallen could user. While VanSumeren is a fast guy with 91 speed, he just wasnt someone who would start on the Eagles team. When I was offered a current pick, even a late one I knew I had to take the offer and it was essentially a free pick.

Eagles/Bears Trade:

Eagles Send: Pick 74 (R3/P10), Pick 134 (R5/P6)

Bears Send: MLB Tremaine Edmunds 85 OVR

This was an easy deal to make for me. The defense was lacking a true linebacker in the middle. White did all he could last season to hold it together, however, once he got taken out the floodgates opened. I knew I wouldn’t be able to find someone that I needed like this with the 3 and 5 picks. Edmunds is 27 years old, however, I don’t feel like regression is going to kick in for a few years. By that time the hope is that he is a 90 overall player so it won’t matter anyway. This move brought something that was missing from the defense and it sured up a major hole. I wouldn’t say the defense is perfect by any means however, it is one of the stronger ones in the league.

Eagles/Packers Trade:

Eagles Send: Future Pick 58 (R2/P26), Future Pick 122 (R4/Pick26)

Packers Send: Pick 78 (R3/P14), Pick 81 (R3/P17)

When the Packers announced that they wouldn’t be making the draft and had a fire sale on theri picks, I knew I had to jump in on this deal. By trading the future picks, it left me with a 1/3/3/5/6/7 for next year and put me at 1/2/3/3/3/4/4/4/5/6 for this year. I knew I could take these picks and hopefully bring in a draft class that will be great for the rest of the cycle.

Eagles/Buccaneers Trade:

Eagles Send: Pick 5.26

Buccaneers Send: Future pick 4.24

Given the fact that I had so many picks, it was a no-brainer to go ahead and recuperate the 4th that I lost for next year by giving up a 5th this year. All the players I wanted I didn’t feel would last until the 5th round and I was right. This ended up being a good deal.

Trade Rumors:

The Eagles and Browns tried to get a trade approved before the draft and failed to do so. They will resume trade talks when trades open up for the regular season.

With rookie running back Singleton doing so well so soon, the Eagles have officially put Barkley on the trade block. The rumor is they are feeling out the trade market for him and hope to trade him sooner rather than later and have Singleton become the workhorse this season. The hope is that he can secure a development trait and win rookie of the year among other awards in order to gain XP and rank up faster.
