The Eagles have been a revolving door of injuries this season with multiple star players getting hurt within the first 6 weeks of the season. After this week’s close loss to the superbowl champions, we are gonna take a closer look at the current injuries and who will be replacing them on the field.
ROLB Josh Sweat 86 OVR SSXF
Injury: Broken RIbs 5 Weeks
Sweat was on the trade block given his one year contract and the likeness that the Eagles won’t have enough cap space left now with signing Jordan Davis for the rest of the cycle. These plans are foiled now as Sweat got hurt early in the first quarter in this week’s game. He won’t come back until after the trade deadline. He will be replaced with a mix of rookie defensive end Sutton and linebacker Huff.
HB Saquon Barkley 93 OVR SSXF
Injury: Broken Collarbone 4 weeks
Barkley got hurt two weeks ago as his original injury was for 6 weeks. Barkley stayed healthy all of last season and had a productive season. He was on pace to beat his numbers for last season in hopes that it would halt some regression coming up. Everything is ruined now with his broken collarbone. He will miss a third of the season and most likely heavily regress this offseason. He was also on the trade block before his injury. Singleton was drafted to complement Barkley but has taken over in his first two games. He has over 150 all purpose yards in his first two starting games and looks to be the star that the Eagles hoped he would be when drafting him.
C David Andrews 76 OVR
Injury: Torn Labrum 4 Weeks
Andrews is our starting center and was hurt on a pass play. He is a productive center who hasn’t given up much pressure this season. He will be replaced by Charles Leno who is the opposite of him. Leno is more of a pass blocker while Andrews was a run blocker. The line may shift more depending on how Leno does.
ROLB Deontae Lawson 76 OVR
Injury: Abdominal Tear 1 Week
Lawson will be coming back from his original 4 week injury next week and he could be looking at a starting spot on the defensive line in order to replace Sweat. Lawson has been getting work in while he was hurt and his block shedding and power moves have been increased in order to support his playing style. He was having an okay season before the injury so the hope is that continues going forward.
LOLB Nick Jackson 73 OVR
Injury: Dislocated Elbow 1 Week
Like Lawson, this was an original 4 week injury but it didn’t affect the roster. Jackson is just backup at this point in his career, however, he can step in and play if someone else at the linebacker position gets hurt.
