Free Agency: Wheeling and Dealing

For some teams it’s their favorite time of the year. Beginning with Free agency in PML, onto the final week of training camp, many teams look to move mountains and turn others into molehill’s just to hoist the crown of winner of the off-season. With blockbuster trades, draft splashes, and unforeseen superstar swaps on the horizon let’s take a look at some of the biggest rumors floating around the PML backpages.

Pick #1 is NOT staying in Baltimore – Having underachieved to highest degree, Benny and his Ravens sot at #1 of a highly anticipated QB draft with all eyes on Arch Manning. With franchise QB Lamar Jackson locked down for the next two years at $75 mil a piece, drafting a QB doesn’t make sense. So the Ravens are shopping this pick to the highest bidder. Word is the going rate is 2 later round 1sts, and SS caliber player and perhaps some later round picks. Who can afford to pay that price, and will it be to acquire Manning outright or to weild power of pick #1 to trade elsewhere to fleece a more desiring team with capital to offer that may not interested the Ravens? Look for the Packers, Patriots, and Bears to be in the mix around this pick.

TE’s for sale – With the emergence of several SS’s at the TE position over the last couple of seasons, aging stars like George Kittle, Travis Kelce, Dallas Goedert, and Mike Gesicki have hit FA. Which means the up and coming guys are being heavily targeted by teams looking to upgrade at the position for cheap. We’re hearing names like Sam LaPorta, Chase Claypool, Brock Bowers, and Oscar Delp are all being floated around as potential splash pieces that could come crashing down on a different team.

QB Inflation – One of the biggest questions teams need to get answered this off-season is who is going to be the QB of the future. With only a couple highly touted prospects present in the draft, teams are going to be hard pressed to acquire an aging veteran via trade or free agency with the prices they’re asking for. There’s a few teams with starting caliber backups on their rosters that may be fielding offers. Shedeur Sanders, JJ McCarthy, Max Duggan, Kaidon Slater, and Riley Leonard may all find themselves starting elsewhere before we hit draft day and we see teams reaching for the stars at the bottomless pit of draft hopefuls found in this year’s class.
