Can you talk about the development of Justin Kirkland so far?
It's only week 2 of the preseason so there's not much to report on. But he has made an instant impact in the locker room and around the building with his character and his work ethic. I mean there's only so much you can tell about a guy when you've only known him for about a month, but man….that kid is different. The way he approaches the game, and just the way he carries himself is something I haven't seen in a 21 year old. I'm excited to see how his growth continues.
How has DeAndre Hopkins’s experience in the league helped the team so far?
At this point, what can you say about Hop that hasn't been already said? He's done it for years and years at an elite level in a bunch of different systems with a bunch of different QBs. I keep telling the receivers "He's forgot more than you know!" and they laugh, but I'm completely serious. His value to the team, the locker room, and the receiver room is invaluable. And you can tell because there's not a moment that I don't see him giving game to one of the young guys on the field or in the film room.
What is the status of Laiatu Latu and when is he set to return?
Yeah Laiatu is dealing with an elbow. I think it hyperextended or something on the run in the Carolina game. It's a week to week thing so we're just going to trust the medical staff and follow their lead. I won't commit to if he'll suit up week one or not, but we'll see as we get closer to game time. He wants to be out there with the guys so it's killing him, but we're patient.
