What are your thoughts about the Broncos going into this week?
Our thoughts are to come into this game with a more focused attack in the next game. In our last matchup against the Rams, we were doing well but after one missed throw, we had spiraled out of control and that was what led to the team getting the loss. Noah needs to relax a bit more as he continues to start for the team. I know how great he can be for the team and as long as Fifita doesn't stay stuck in his head, he will flourish into a great QB that could show himself as one of the best in this rookie class.
Can you summarize what it was like playing against the Rams last week?
We shot ourselves in the foot, the first quarter and most of the second quarter, we were playing competitive with te Rams and was looking at an opportunity to get a great score before half. All it took was a missed throw to a wide open receiver that then led to a pick on the next play, which would then lead to the next drive going all the way down the field just to miss a chip shot fg that would just destroy all of the teams momentum and demoralized the team and the second half would continue the beat down.
Can you talk about the development of Noah Fifita so far?
He has throw more picks than what I would want but he is still showing production day in and day out, Noah has been very vocal to me on how all of our losses are on him and he has taken it upon himself to try and be a more reliable leader for the team as they continue this season. I think the main thing holding Noah back is his nerves, he has throw incomplete passes and interceptions that are from him just not making the right decision in the game, him relaxing will help him out tremendously in developing more for us.
Can you talk about what it’s like to prepare to go against a player like Patrick Surtain II?
He's one of the best players on the defensive side but he is also only one person on defense while his team is winless. Our gameplan is to make it so he is irrelevant to our production on offense and we are looking to get big stops on defense to make the team come out with an easy victory over the Broncos as we look to get back to .500.
How do you see the competition level in the NFC West currently?
I think the division is going to run through the Rams but if we can pick up the pace, we can either fight for the division with them. I view the Rams as biggest threat to our chances at getting the division since they are currently undefeated while we are tied with the Cardinals and the Seahawks.
Can you speak to the overall team health?
We have kept the injuries to a low compared to some other teams in the league which has been a focal point to our training, in our game with the Rams, after D.J. Humphries got injured, our offensive line gave up way to many sacks and pressures and it sucks to lose a pivotal piece on the offensive line.
What are your key strategies heading into this week’s game against Broncos?
Our key strategy for this game is to have zero turnovers while taking the ball away numerous times against the Broncos, if we can set the pace and get an early lead, we will be able to control how the game goes and go about getting the victory here. Following this gameplan will allow us to get the victory and not give the Broncos their first win of the season.
