Transcript: Broncos Offseason Recap Press Conference

[Opening Statement]

Good afternoon, everyone. It’s been an eventful offseason, and I couldn’t be more excited about where we’re headed as a team. We made some key moves, strengthened our roster, and set the tone for the upcoming season. Let’s get into it.

[Reporter 1: Coach, what were the biggest priorities this offseason in terms of team needs?]

Depth and playmakers. We knew we had to address the line on both sides of the ball— in terms of depth and developmental talent. We made it a point to bring in players who can contribute right away and guys we can develop for the future. On top of that, we brought in a new offensive line coach, Druski, who has already established rapport and helped the big boys up front better work as a unit. He is going to help us elevate our game in the trenches. Protecting Bo and establishing a strong run game were key areas of focus.

[Reporter 2: There were rumors of coaching changes. Can you elaborate on that?]

We feel very confident in maintaining our core coaching staff. That said, we made some specific tweaks at the positional coach levels, as well as in our strength and conditioning department. These aren’t just minor moves; they are calculated changes to maximize player development and performance. Every season presents new challenges, and we wanted to make sure we had the right people in place to get the most out of our roster.

[Reporter 3: Some key departures and acquisitions in the offseason—how do you feel about the roster turnover?]

Losing players is always tough, especially when they’ve contributed to our culture and success. We did lose some role players on both sides of the ball, but we don’t feel that any departure was detrimental to our ability to win. On the flip side, we were able to add a lot of high-caliber talent. Bringing in guys like Rashee Rice, Sidy Sow and Saquon Barkley on the offensive side as well as Jordyn Brooks, Chuck Harris, Kenny Moore II, and Derwin James Jr on the defensive side was huge for us. These are veteran-level guys who bring experience, leadership, and playmaking ability.

[Reporter 4: Elijah Arroyo had a breakout season last year. What have you seen from him this offseason?]

Elijah is a one-of-a-kind talent. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again—this guy is special. He lived in the training facility this offseason, working on every aspect of his game. He’s taken his development seriously, and you’ll see that on the field this year. He’s earned the respect of the locker room, and that’s why he’ll be one of our offensive captains.

[Reporter 5: On the defensive side, Kevin Winston Jr. has improved in major statistical categories each season dating back to his sophmore year at Penn State. How does he fit into this season’s plans?]

Kevin Winston Jr. is another young stud who’s been everything we hoped for since day one. His work ethic, his ability to impact the game, and his leadership make him an invaluable part of this defense. That’s why he’s also being named a captain. And bringing in a guy like Derwin James is going to do wonders for him. Derwin’s a generational talent, and he’s going to play a major role in our defense—whether at safety, the slot, or even in the box. His versatility will alleviate some pressure in coverage for PS2 and Kevin, while also bolstering our run defense.

[Reporter 6: Marvin Mims Jr. was a key offensive weapon last year. What’s his contract situation?]

We locked Marvin Mims Jr. up for the future—signed him to a four-year deal worth over $80 million as I’m sure you’re aware. He’s a dynamic playmaker, and we wanted to make sure he stays in Denver for years to come. We expect him to take another leap this season and be a cornerstone of our offense.

[Reporter 7: How was the chemistry and energy at training camp?]

Training camp was outstanding. Everyone showed up locked in, and you could feel the energy. The chemistry was built, and guys pushed each other every single day. That’s what you want to see as a coach—competition, effort, and a commitment to getting better.

[Reporter 8: What’s the mindset heading into the season?]

Simple: Never take anything for granted. We take our losses just as seriously as we take our wins. We’re always looking to take the next step—never settling, never being complacent. That’s the mindset we’re instilling in this locker room.

[Reporter 9: What are the expectations this season?]

We’re making a playoff push. That’s the bottom line. We’ve built this team to compete, and we expect to be playing meaningful football in December and beyond. We’re ready to go.
