Giants Record Roundup: Weeks 1-4

So far the Giants are sitting at 2-2 after 4 weeks. In this mini series we will continue to take a look at their record with a brief synopsis of the games and statistics. This will give the league a nice update every few weeks on how the team is doing overall.

Points: 24 ppg (31)
Total: 367.5 ypg (23)
Passing: 313.5ypg (4)
Rushing: 54 ypg (26)

The offense has been one of the worst scoring offenses due to the sim, however, Dart and the offense has put up pretty great numbers. He is commanding them well without turning the ball over. The rushing attack needs to get in gear because if they don’t they teams will just play for the pass which is a recipe for disaster.

Points: 25 ppg (3)
Total: 327.8 ypg (2)
Passing: 274.5 ypg (7)
Rushing: 53.3 ypg (2)

Statistically the defense has been one of the best in the league. Take away the simmed game and this would change a little bit, as the defense would be worse and the offense better. That game aside, if you look at the rest of the league, they are all putting up record high numbers on offense so the Giants defense not giving up 35 plus points every game does make them one of the best statistically.

Week 1: 38 Commanders – 24 Giants

Week 1 started out rough for the Giants. Both sides of the ball couldn’t do anything to start the game and by the end of the first half the game was already out of hand. Wilson couldn’t hit anything and the defense couldn’t stop Daniels running or throwing. In the second half, Dart came into the game and the defense slowed the game down which allowed the Giants to make the score alittle respectable in the end.

Week 2: Cowboys 35 – Giants 27

Although the final result was different, this game was the complete opposite of week 1. The Giants came out of the gate hot and had a double digit lead, only to let the cowboys come back and ultimately win the game. Dart played well to start but his first interception was the catalyst to the Cowboys coming back. The interception was a throw that was forced, with the user defender stepping right in front of the drag route. With the fourth quarter winding down, the Cowboys had the ball in field goal range and could have ran three times to kick a field goal, but decided to throw it, and it was intercepted by Okereke. With this new life, Dart took over and led the Giants to the goal line where they were mere yards away from scoring. On the final play of the game, Dart had the running back streak open immediately for a touchdown but waited slightly, causing Tracey to go into the endzone where the ball was swatted and intercepted to lose the game.

Week 3: Chiefs 10 – Giants 17

This was the final score of a simmed game that was desycned with seconds left to go in the real game. In the real game the Giants had control of the entire game. Dart commanded the offense passing for 5 touchdowns, while rushing for 1, with over 400 yards thrown. The Giants were up over 21 points, however, in the fourth they let up a few one play touchdowns in which let the Chiefs get back into the game. When the game desycned the score was 41-39 with 8 seconds left in the game. It ended up being a good game for both teams that ultimately turned into a waste of statistics and time.

Week 4: Chargers 20 – Giants 28

This was supposed to be an exciting game where I could see how I was compared to a guy who was ranked in the top of leader boards in Madden. We were scheduled, but something must have come up because he told me to take the computer win. That is not a thing in PML so I faced the CPU Herberts. I say it like that because Herbert was a monster in this game. He is deadly accurate and unless i blitzed he found a target rather quickly. I was able to make a few stops by tricking the cpu to throw short when it wasn’t there. Ultimately the game winning interception came from rookie Carter who randomly dropped into coverage. Hopefully, ll be able to play Sweat if we face off again.

The first four weeks of the season have been a mixed bag for the Giants. 2 wins and 2 losses is a decent record but with the division always winning, mixed with one of the toughest schedules in the league, I needed to start off hot to have any chances at a playoff spot. I will need to win some games that I am not projected to win if I want a shot at the playoffs this season. We will check to see how the progress is going after week 8.
