New Giants New ambitions: Team spotlight

In this team spotlight I asked new head coach Burn a couple questions then at the end i have my own words to say about the team.

1) what has been your biggest concern for your team so far?

Biggest concern has been the defense not playing as well as expected. Pass rush should be getting there more than they have but just aren’t which leaves the young dbs not being able keep up in coverage

2) How has having a rookie qb impacted the play of your team?

Having a rookie means we could have gotten the sitting scenario and scored xp but didn’t so that changed the way I looked at it. Wilson started the first game and was going to be the starter but he played terribly. I decided to give Dart a try and he played well so he became our starter for the year. The hope is he hits his goals and can become rookie of the year. This would significantly help his development

3) what upcoming game are you looking forward to or if it already happen who was it?

I’m actually looking forward to week 4 which I haven’t played yet. Playing against a top player with a low overall team has me excited to see if I’m up to the challenge of winning.

4) is there anything else you wanted share about the team or season so far?

The team is young but has speed, the goal is to develop our players and look to have a higher overall roster by the end of the season
I feel even though the roster is young and low, we have the talent to compete in the division and league. We are eyeing a playoff spot this season.

When I look at this team, I see a few things that might be a potential challenge and a potential savior. starting with the Qb position having a rookie Qb like Dart is nice not only for cap space but you have 5 years to develop him and yes if he takes his lumps early and makes it through them without injury then the future is bright for Coach Burn and Mr. Dart. The skill positions around dart are very young as well 25,22,24 and 23. All of these players have the ability to be huge in Darts development, and the Giants push for Nfc East superiority. The Offensive line besides the right side is all on the young side also, so again youth is the key for the giants offensively it seems.

Defensively, the front 7 is very stout all pros Dexter Lawernce and Brian burns lead the way, and rookie cater is looking to benefit for having them to eat up double teams, but as coach Burn stated they haven’t been getting the pressures he had hoped this early in the year, with 15 sacks as a team and rookie Carter leading with 4 and burns having 3.5 I think after this question was asked coach burn has to be at least a bit more happy with the pass rush production. The defensive back field Lead by veteran safety Jevon holland has to be happy with 7 ints 3 by young db Cor’Dale Flott, 15 pbu also has to be encouraging although coach Burn would like more of those to become ints. no forced fumbles which could be concerning but it also could mean sound fundamentals and not missing tackles going for unnecessary punchouts.

My final thoughts on the New York Giants, are they are in a tough division, they are a very young team and if they don’t make the post season this year id expect them to take huge leap in year 2, if they can get their cap space right and grab a one maybe two vets to help and hit in the draft i can see them being a team to cause some problems in the Nfc.
