Week 7 Recap
The Atlanta Falcons pulled out a thrilling 45-42 win over the San Francisco 49ers in a high-scoring shootout. The victory moves Atlanta to 4-2 on the season, while San Francisco falls to 2-5.
First year starter quarterback Michael Penix Jr. shined, completing 25 of 34 passes for 361 yards and 4 touchdowns, picking apart the 49ers’ defense. Bijan Robinson showcased his dual-threat ability, rushing 10 times for 78 yards and a touchdown while also catching 9 passes for 121 yards and another score. On defense, Ruke Orhorhoro provided a spark in the pass rush with 3 tackles and 2 sacks.
Quarterback Brock Purdy was efficient, going 13 of 19 for 243 yards and 3 touchdowns, though he did throw one costly interception. Christian McCaffrey was electric out of the backfield, exploding for 197 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on just 16 carries. Tight end George Kittle contributed with 68 receiving yards and a score, while on defense, Marques Sigle added 3 tackles, a forced fumble, and a pass deflection.
Both offenses lit up the scoreboard, but the Falcons’ balance through the air and on the ground proved just enough to edge out San Francisco in a game that came down to the wire.
