CARDINALS BYE WEEK MOVES: RELEASE ZAY JONES, SIGN PRACTICE SQUAD WIDE RECEIVER

pEntering their BYE Week tied for the top of the NFC West with a 5-2 record (alongside the Seattle Seahawks). The Arizona Cardinals management was busy on the phones and made one move on the offensive side of the ball happen. This one not as big as bringing in veteran defensive tackle, Christian Wilkins but one that could benefit them in the long run.

The Arizona Cardinals announced that they were releasing veteran wide-receiver Zay Jones to make room for a practice squad signing, wide receiver Kaden Prather off of the New England Patriots practice squad. Originally, Prather was a seventh round draft pick in the most recent draft by the Buffalo Bills and found himself on the New England Patriots practice squad with the season kicking off.

The Arizona Cardinals are all about youth and growth. Coach Jonathan Gannon and owner / general manager Brad Pitt both discovered him and kept a tab on him while in the search for another wide receiver to add to Kyler Murrays arsenal. It’s believed around the Cardinals organization that Prather can be a long term impact.

The Arizona Cardinals announced in a presser that they thank Zay Jones for his service and time with the team, being a valuable asset and mentor to the wide receiver room and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Here is a little more on addition of Kaden Prather to the team:

It was confirmed that the rookie wide out would take the mantle of #8. Coach Gannon announced that he was excited for the addition of another threat and he looks forward to seeing Prather grow with the team. Suggesting that the initial one year deal Prather signed might turn into something long term by the offseason.

We will see how the signing pans out and how big of a role he carries with the offense as he is expected to make his debut against the Dallas Cowboys in an important conference clash. p
