PML Week 2 Recap: Cowboys 35, Giants 27

The Dallas Cowboys opened their PML season with a statement win over division rival New York, holding off a late Giants push to secure a 35–27 victory in Week 2.

Air Attack Leads the Way

Dak Prescott wasted no time reminding the league why he’s the leader of this Cowboys squad. Despite a shaky 58% completion rate, Prescott was electric — throwing for 305 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. His willingness to push the ball downfield kept New York’s defense on their heels all night, highlighted by a 59-yard strike to CeeDee Lamb.

Lamb was unstoppable, racking up 154 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 4 catches, averaging a jaw-dropping 38.5 yards per reception. George Pickens also chipped in with a touchdown grab, while rookie Jaydon Blue added one through the air to complement his role in the run game.

Ground Game Stalls

While the passing game lit up the scoreboard, the Cowboys couldn’t get much going on the ground. Rookie Jaydon Blue led the team with just 11 yards on 4 carries, while Javonte Williams added 9 yards on 7 carries. With a total of 20 rushing yards on the night, this is clearly an area the offense will need to improve moving forward.

Defensive Standouts

On defense, Malik Hooker was everywhere, piling up 13 total tackles and a huge interception return for 57 yards that swung momentum in Dallas’ favor. Trevon Diggs and Damone Clark added solid performances of their own, while the defensive front generated timely stops to hold New York to just 3 points in the third quarter — a key stretch that allowed the Cowboys to build their decisive lead.

The Turning Point

After trailing 17–14 at halftime, Dallas exploded with 21 unanswered points in the third quarter, fueled by Prescott’s aggressive passing and a defense that tightened up in key spots. That surge gave the Cowboys a cushion they would not surrender, even as New York fought back in the fourth.

Final Thoughts

The Cowboys walk away from Week 2 with a big divisional win but also a clear identity: an explosive passing attack capable of lighting up any defense. If the run game can find its footing, Dallas could become one of the most dangerous teams in PML this season.

Next up: Dallas looks to carry this momentum into Week 3 and keep building toward a strong start in the NFC East race.
