Week 3 of the PML season delivered fireworks as the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears battled in an offensive showcase that had both sidelines holding their breath until the final whistle. In a game that featured over 1,200 combined yards of offense, Dallas fell just short, losing 56–49 in one of the wildest contests of the year.
Prescott Puts Up Monster Numbers
Dak Prescott put the team on his back in this one, torching the Bears’ secondary for 491 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions on 30-of-45 passing (66%). The Cowboys’ QB was in attack mode from the start, connecting on explosive plays to keep pace with Chicago’s relentless scoring. His 69-yard bomb to KaVontae Turpin was one of several highlights that kept the Dallas offense rolling.
Pickens & Lamb Dominate
The wide receiver duo of George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb looked unstoppable.
- George Pickens: 7 receptions, 134 yards, 2 TDs (long 51)
- CeeDee Lamb: 6 receptions, 97 yards, 1 TD
- KaVontae Turpin: 1 catch, 69-yard TD
- Jaydon Blue: 6 catches, 67 yards, valuable chain-mover
- Jake Ferguson: 4 catches, 60 yards
Pickens was a nightmare matchup on the outside, while Lamb consistently made plays in the intermediate passing game. With Turpin’s one-play touchdown, Dallas proved it can score from anywhere on the field.
Williams Provides Balance
The Cowboys didn’t abandon the run despite the shootout. Javonte Williams carried the ball 10 times for 60 yards (6.0 avg) and a touchdown, breaking 4 tackles and adding 28 yards after contact. While the rushing attempts were limited, Williams’ efficiency kept the defense honest.
Defense Struggles to Contain Chicago
For all the offensive fireworks, Dallas’ defense just couldn’t get the stops needed to pull off the win.
- Malik Hooker led the unit with 10 tackles (2 TFL).
- Kenneth Murray Jr. added 9 tackles, flying sideline to sideline.
- DaRon Bland made the team’s lone interception, returning it 34 yards.
But Chicago’s balanced attack (433 passing, 125 rushing) proved too much, especially with Dallas giving up 5 red zone touchdowns on 5 trips.
Game of Swings
The Bears exploded for 35 points in the 2nd quarter, taking what looked like a commanding halftime lead. But Dallas never quit — Prescott and the Cowboys clawed back, outscoring Chicago 18–14 in the second half to nearly complete the comeback.
In the end, turnovers (3 by Dallas) and red zone defense proved to be the difference, as the Bears held on for the 56–49 win.
Looking Ahead
The Cowboys may have taken the loss, but Week 3 proved this offense is one of the most dangerous in the league. With Prescott locked in, Pickens and Lamb shredding defenses, and Williams providing a ground punch, Dallas looks ready to rebound quickly. The key? Tightening up defensively and cutting down on turnovers.
The NFC better take notice — the Cowboys may be 1–2, but this team looks like it can put up points with anyone
