Chicago Head Coach Ben Johnson strolled into his office Thursday morning and made a terrifying discovery. Halas Hall, the Bears’ base of operations, was broken into and the top ten list inside of the GM’s office was snatched. Before there was even time to investigate, the big board was all over Twitter and every sports talk show.
While not pleased, coach Johnson was adamant they wouldn’t have been able to get any of their top ten anyway, and that the team must ignore the distraction to try and fight their way into the playoffs.
1: Nyck Harbor
Harbor is a beast in all facets. Size, speed, skill. However, this leak matters even less now that he’s chosen to stay a South Carolina Gamecock another season before declaring.
2: LaNorris Sellers
Sellers is the clear QB1 in most people’s minds with how Arch Manning has looked and likely won’t even declare. Another player Chicago is content with being exposed as they weren’t looking at quarterbacks anyway, this is simply a big board.
3: Ty Simpson
Another quarterback, another phew from Ben Johnson and the Chicago front office. Simpson is versatile and, most importantly, comes out of juggernaut Alabama and its farm of quality talent.
4: Rueben Bain Jr
The most explosive edge rusher in this class, Bain is a beast and will make any defense happy. If Chicago trades up, you know who they’re after.
5: Peter Woods
The strongest defensive tackle in this class, Woods can rush the passer and plug up holes in run defense. The Bears currently have a whole roster of young defensive tackles, but Woods is most definitely better than all of them besides Gervon Dexter Sr.
6: LT Overton
If Bain is the best edge rusher on day one, Overton is the best edge rusher in year 3, probably. His Alabama Roots and big, scary frame can change the game with just a few plays. He’s another target for Chicago’s pass rush problem that’s now out in the open.
7: Caleb Downs
Downs has been touted as a great safety prospect for so long, and he absolutely is, even if his athleticism doesn’t feel great in the big year 2025 or eventually… 2026. The Bears have plenty of defensive backs, but Brisker will likely walk, opening up a safety spot. Downs is out of reach, regardless.
8: Harold Perkins Jr
The fastest linebacker in the class who can get to the edge and keep up with tight ends and running backs in coverage, Perkins is likely to be picked earlier than an off-ball linebacker should, but if he’s on Chicago’s top ten board, it can’t be that bad.
9: Domani Jackson
Another Alabama defender, color me surprised. It seems the Bears have a tendency and a school they like. Jackson is rangy and versatile, perfect for an evolving game that demands a lot out of cornerbacks. Unlikely to land alongside Jaylon Johnson, though.
10: Kadyn Proctor
Huge. Gnarly. Monster. A lot of words describe Proctor’s sheer force he provides on the field. And guess what? He went to Alabama! The Chicago Bears front office knows what’s up even if they don’t need offensive lineman
