The Drama Mock Draft 1-15

As much as we try to deny it, there’s a little dramaman inside of everyone. With the draft upcoming, free agency has wrought all kinds of shakes and moves with teams jockeying for draft stock. How crazy can things get? Let’s see what moves could be made of everyone embraced the drama within their coaching cerebellum.

Pick 1: Chiefs select Zachariah Branch WR from Georgia. Don’t ask why, ask why not? With pick 1 for 7 rounds of the draft the Chiefs can fill the holes in their roster. The biggest big splash would be adding a 4.24 40 yard dash speed demon to exhaust defenses alongside Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy.

Pick 2: Panthers select Lanoris Sellers QB from South Carolina. With Bryce Young falling out of the graces of the coaching staff in Carolina, the Panthers pull the trigger on perhaps the best athlete in the draft playing the QB position. A hometown favorite coming from the South Carolina Gamecocks, Sellers doesn’t have to go far to his new home in Charlotte.

Pick 3: New Orleans Saints select Arch Manning QB from Texas. Almost as if it was destiny, another generation of the Manning’s becomes the face of the Saints. Coming off a loss to Oregon in the NCAA Championship game, Arch arrives in the big easy to hopefully turn the franchise around.

Pick 4: Tennessee Titans select Caleb Downs FS from Ohio State. Titans take the best available player that’s not a quarterback. Downs is poised to come into the league and be the captain of the defense. The secondary is the weakest unit of the Titans defense and Caleb sures that up for them.

Pick 5: Miami Dolphins select Monsoor Delane CB from LSU. Tua has his weapons on offense, where Miami could use some rejuvenation is in the secondary. Delane has been lauded as a potential “Honey Badger 2.0” after locking down receivers in SEC, and now he’s bringing his talents to South Beach.

Pick 6: Las Vegas Raiders select Drew Allar QB from Penn State. In fear of missing out on their guy, the Raiders swap picks with the NY Giants by also sending them Dont’e Thornton Jr. Allar comes in to replace Geno Smith as the guy handing the ball off to Ashton Jeanty for the Raiders.

Pick 7: Detroit Lions select Evan Stewart WR from Oregon. After trading away team SS Amonr-Ra St. Brown, and releasing Jared Goff after a failed campaign last season, the Lions add a speedy, sure handed catcher to open up the field opposite of Jameson Williams, hoping to make space for Jamyr Gibbs and David Montgomery in the run game.

Pick 8: NY Giants select Kadyn Proctor LT from Alabama. Taking advantage of the rush for QB’s the Giants secured themselves a coverage buster in Dont’e Thornton Jr from the Raiders. This enables them to focus on the trenches with their first pick, taking the best lineman in the draft.

Pick 9: Buffalo Bills select Sonny Styles Will LB from Ohio State. After missing the playoffs due to a last minute TD drive that the defense allowed to the NY Jets, the Bills are confident in their offense. With the departure of aging vet Matt Milano, the Bills draft in replacement in Styles whose college career and combine showings highlight him as the best of the pass coverage LB’s in the class.

Pick 10: Cincinnati Bengals select Rueben Bain Jr Edge Rusher from the University of Miami. Struggling to get pressure on opposing Qb’s last season the Bengals take Bain who enters the league as the NCAA sack leader, and runner up of the Lombardi award behind Dylan Stewart who returned for his Junior year.

Pick 11: San Francisco 49ers select Frances Mauigoa RT from the University of Miami. With the retirement of Trent Williams, Brock Purdy, McCaffery and the rest of the 49ers offense needs someone who can open up some holes in the trenches.

Pick 12: Los Angeles Chargers select Malik Muhammad CB from Texas. The Chargers secondary is going to need help with all the emerging talent at receiver in their division. Muhammed enters the league fresh off a NCAA championship defeat, and played alongside the reigning Jim Thorpe award winner (best DB).

Pick 13: Dallas Cowboys select Suntarine Perkins Sam LB from Ole Miss. With the pick Dallas acquired in the trade that sent away Micah Parsons, they look to fill the void he left by drafting a player that fits into his mold. Versatile enough to play with a hand in the dirt, or maneuvering at the second level, Perkins is the right fit for this finesse cowboys defense.

Pick 14: Carolina Panthers select Bryan Thomas Jr Edge Rusher from South Carolina. After acquiring the #14 pick from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Bryce Young, the Panthers are able to add a weapon to their front 7. Thomas is coming off a stellar year playing opposite of Lombardi award winner Dylan Stewart. Like Sellers, he too has a short trip to Charlotte to play for the hometown NFL team.

Pick 15: Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Anthony Hill Jr MLB from Texas. After the retirement of Levonte David the Buccaneers need a new signal caller for their defense. Hill’s experience and skill the captain of a top tier defense makes him the right fit. Coming off a NCAA championship loss, and finishing 3rd place in the Butkus Award, Hill enters the league as a can’t miss prospect.
