After signing Leroy Watson and moving him to TE, offensive mastermind Ben Johnson is at it again. He signed WR turned CB Bo Melton who is 94 speed, but more importantly, 91 COD.
He’ll try to call Chicago home after not being able to produce on the rival Packers, where Green Bay couldn’t find use for him on either side of the ball. Johnson, the Bears’ Head Coach, said he loves Melton’s ability to move with or without the ball.
“He’ll be a huge contributor on special teams, as well as hopefully playing some snaps on offense. Maybe he’ll still get some defensive looks, too,” Johnson said at his post free agency press conference.
The coach is entering his second season in the league as the captain of a franchise, and it was less than ideal, although a solid start at 9-8, but outside of the playoffs.
Chicago signed thirteen other players this offseason, although Melton will be just one of three signings to make the final 53 unless there’s a surprise. The other two signings that will probably be here all year are long snapper William Wagner, returning after coming to the Bears midseason last year, and the already mentioned Fat Bear Tight End, Leroy Watson.
