pDeion Burks will officially be my starting slot receiver, and it’s bittersweet for me. The plan all along was to draft a fast, shifty slot guy who could stretch the field and make plays after the catch, so I’m happy that part worked out. But it sucks that it also means Travis Hunter won’t be playing both ways full time anymore. With this new Madden setup not recording his offensive stats, it just doesn’t make sense to risk injury when he’s already one of the best shutdown corners in the entire league. His value on defense is too high to play with.p
pI’ll revisit the idea of bringing Travis back to offense once the postseason rolls around, but for now Deion Burks has earned that role. He flashed everything I wanted to see in the preseason, especially on that 76 yard dig route he took to the house in a blink. That speed is different. I’m really excited about what he adds to the offense and what this trio could become. Brian Thomas Jr., De’Zhaun Stribling, and Deion Burks might end up being the most explosive wide receiver group I’ve ever coached.p
