5.6 MLB Bryce Boattcher, 66 OVR
Development Chance: High, projected 6-7 DDT points
The Giants were going to go with quarterback Salter at this pick, but he was chosen by Green Bay with the first pick in the fifth round. This put Coach Burn in a bit of a panic mode, so he went with a guy who has a good shot at a development trait. The Giants selected Boattcher with the sixth pick in the fifth round, knowing that his physical attributes weren’t going to be great.
Boattcher comes out of the gate with some pretty bad attributes. He is 80 speed, 86 acceleration, 80 jumping. He isn’t going to do much to keep up with running backs and tight ends in this league. If he gets a development trait the Giants will have to find some way to get him on the field. One of the most interesting things about him is his ability to throw the football for a defensive player. He has 86 throw power and all 60s in throwing categories. Normally this would not be ideal but for a linebacker it is fascinating.
He has a high chance at getting a development trait, but I don’t know if even that would be worth him taking over a starting spot.
