Giants Offense: Weeks 1-4

In this mini series we will continue to take a look at the Giants offensive and defensive statistics every 4 weeks This will give the league a nice update every few weeks on how the team is doing overall in these categories.

Weeks: 1-4
Points: 43 ppg (7)
Total: 486.5 ypg (8).
Passing: 411.8 ypg (3)
Rushing: 74.8 ypg (28)

The Giants have an overall record of 3-1 and it is largely part of the offense. Last season, the offense was last in all major categories, except for passing yards, where Dart flourished as a rookie. This season Dart has become a new man and has led the Giants and the league in almost all passing statistical categories. His offensive workouts have made him one of the better quarterbacks in the league. He was able to even manage to increase his throw power, when that was said to be almost impossible.

Dart and company have the Giants in the top ten in passing yards, total yards, and points per game. In every game they have played, the offense is putting up points that they could have only dreamed about last season. The new additions to the team have really sparked this offense. The renewed focus to the offensive line has helped keep Dart upright and he is able to scan the field on most players. The selection of rookie wide receiver Branch has owned up the passing game and taken it to heights never before imagined. Branch’s 98 speed makes the defense have to respect him and having Nabers on the opposite side makes for one of the deadliest duos in the league. It makes perfect sense on how these two together would make a difference for the offense.

The issue that the offense is having is the running game. Tracy and Mitchell are doing well in the passing game, but they aren’t breaking free from the defense like a lot of other running backs in the league. The Giants will need to change some things up with them and the offensive line because you can’t win games just passing the ball. Teams will pass commit every down and eventually things will get shut down. We will come back to this offense in week 8 to see if the running game is improved or not.
