Over your career, what makes a team better at not turning the ball over as the season goes along? What kind of things you need to emphasize? How much of it is coaching? How much of it is a mental part? Physical part?
As the season progresses the offense gets into that flow where more correct decisions are made. If fumbles are a problem we can emphasize ball security, but the passing game will produce less turnovers the more the scheme becomes a fit.
What were some of the contributing factors to the loss this week?
The run game on both offense and defense. We had very few run stops that we would like to pride this defense on. And on offense, we couldn't get the run game going. We were approaching FG range to win the game and we went backwards and forced a turnover on downs and a loss.
How quickly can you tell if a young player is a football player if he thinks about it because it seems like at the Combine they’re all saying the right thing and it’s the job. How quickly does it take?
Quickly but not because of the combine or any interview. A true football player shows he is going to be good by putting in the work win or loss and leading.
