What were the keys to the team’s victory this week?
We wanted to start off strong against the run game. The Ravens are a tough offense to contain, especially if Lamar Jackson gets it going early. We wanted to hit him as often (and legally) as possible, to make sure he knew we were serious. On offense, the goal was to play smart, execution-style football, taking shots when we needed to, and capitalizing on over-aggressive coverage. Tyler Lockett had a great day and we were able to force the Ravens into a lot of 3rd and longs. We hope to carry this momentum into our next matchup against the scrappy Commanders.
Can you talk about the development of Devon Witherspoon so far?
Witherspoon (aka my cousin!) is such a great player. He's great in the run game and plays lockdown coverage on the outside. We plan to invest a lot of content into him, and create one of the best CB tandems in the entire league. We just need to get his interceptions up and he'll have hall of fame potential.
What kind of player do you see when you look at Lamar Jackson?
I see a quarterback that we'd like to have in our system. There are no throws he can't make, he's deadly on the ground (perhaps the best running QB ever) and just gives you the threat of the run every play. I hope the Ravens are able to maximize his potential.
