Can you talk about what it’s like to prepare to go against a player like Brian Burns?
He is a beast normally but we had a storyline to avoid sacks so we were able to take 0 sacks and earn 10k xp for every member of the offensive line which is huge. Burns blew up two run plays but we game-planned quick passes and moved the pocket away from him and he became a non-factor in the passing game. The Panthers have a unique and effective blitz scheme but we learned from our last matchup and shut it all down.
What is the status of Bryan Bresee and when is he set to return?
He'll be back week 18 and for the playoffs as long as he doesn't get injured again. He's had 3 separate 4 week injuries this season and it is disappointing as his fellow rookie Isaiah Foskey has been amazing and we think Bresee could be as effective when he's on the field. Payton Turner and Josh Paschal have been great in relief of Bresee.
I want to ask you about the receiver position in general. How have you seen that position evolve in importance over the years and how does having a player like WR Chris Olave sort of factor into that perspective?
The receiver position is definitely more important than it used to be and there are so many more talented wideouts than there used to be. Chris Olave has solidified himself as an elite weapon that makes our offense way better. However, we feel comfortable with our whole room as we are 3-1 in games Olave didn't play in or was too hurt to finish. Receivers are important but a good scheme can overcome a weaker room.
