Transcript: Saints Head Coach Press Conference

You are facing a team that has ran the ball well this season. What are some of the things you are focusing on in practice this week to try and slow them down?

We are working on filling run gaps, getting off blocks, and hustling until the whistle is blown. We have invested resources into our defensive line with our first two picks in the last draft, trading for John Franklin-Meyers, extending Cameron Jordan last offseason, and signing Josh Paschal. Those are front-office moves, though. Now is the time to show it on the field and have those boys up front lead us like we hoped.

As far as complementary football, what the offense and the defense are doing as we look at dominating games, how do you feel you guys are getting close to that point, as far as complete domination from start to finish?

It's difficult to have everything click in a single game but we've done a good job of achieving that occasionally. It definitely starts with the defense in my opinion. To dominate, your offense can start slow but if you get in a hole with bad defense you're clawing out, you won't dominate. Also, cannot put enough emphasis on smart play on both sides of the ball. Avoiding penalties and turnovers and big mistakes is how you stay on top and finish all the way through.

What stands out about your opponent's offense?

We're ready for the 3rd and long play with five wide where Saquon is motioned in and there's a fade, streak, and post on the other side.
