Transcript: Raiders Head Coach Press Conference

Can you speak to the overall team health?

Team health is looking good currently. We've got most of our guys up and running, which is always a positive, especially this late into the season. But let's be real, with the record not where we want it, it's a bit of a bittersweet spot to be in. Being healthy is great, but it's like having a full tank of gas in a car that's not hitting the race track.

Right now, the front office is shifting into a higher gear, focusing on the bigger picture. We're dissecting every aspect of our operations to ensure that we don't just come back healthy next season, but stronger and more competitive. The key is to match our physical health with organizational and strategic health, so we can make the kind of impact we're aiming for when the new season rolls around.

What are your thoughts about the Chargers just in general as a team?

The Chargers, they’ve got all the pieces. A great coach steering the ship, and the kind of roster that you look at and just know they're built for success. It’s a team brimming with talent at every position – stars that can change the game on a dime. You’ve got to respect the level of skill they bring to the field.

It really would be surprising if they don’t secure a championship with the squad they've assembled. They’ve got the firepower for sure. In this league, it's all about capitalizing on those windows of opportunity, and they’re definitely in one. When you have that kind of talent, expectations are naturally high. It’ll be interesting to see how they navigate the pressures of those expectations and if they can indeed go all the way.

Who is your quarterback, and why?

Jimmy Garoppolo is holding down the quarterback position for the moment. He's got the experience and the ability to make plays when we need them. But as with any competitive team, we're always looking to get better at every position. Once the offseason hits, we'll evaluate our options thoroughly. If there's a move to be made that can help us improve and give us a better chance to win games, we'll consider it. The goal is to build the best team possible, and sometimes that means making tough decisions for the future.
