This is an article series I’m going to try to do every week going through every game and giving a short description of the game based off the stats and the things I saw (if I watched). Like a little recap for people who can’t catch games…
Ridder played very efficient football scoring 4 TDs in only 16 completions is very impressive, he leaned on Waddle who had 3 TDs. Tyree Jackson and Brooks did not have good performances as Brooks had 2.9 YPC on 19 attempts and Tyree threw more INTs than TDs.
Trey Lance best game of the season and his career, completing 72% of his passes with 6 TDs only 2 INTs… might have a breakout game on our hands. Detroit didn’t do too bad offensively, it was the defense that was the issue allowing 43 points.
Wow does defense even exist in this game??? 91 total points, the Vikings coming out victorious. Both QBs with outstanding games over 700 yards passing combined and 6 TDs. The difference was the RB battle… Kene had 40 more yards and FOUR more TDs than Chase Brown. The coolest story line is former LSU teammates JJettas vs Ja’marr Chase having an absolute battle… 178 yards and 2 TDs for Jefferson and 131 yards and 2 TDs for Chase. Enough griddy for the entire season.
Not a whole lot to say about this game. Jefe forced Watson into throwing 4 INTs. You can’t beat a user like Jefe turning over the ball, and definitely not at that high volume in turnovers.
A very nasty game to say the least. There were 3 players who stood out though: George Pickens who put on a show vs the Colts’ weak DB room, Jonathan Taylor running like his pre injury self against the DPOY himself Cam Heyward, and old man Pat Pete showing he can still do this at a high level with 2 INTs.
This game was great to watch really down to the wire. The big difference was Mike’s ability to be efficient with his QB only 4 incompletions (one being an INT), and then Aaron Jones showing why he is an MVP candidate. Watson’s speed really makes this team scary because you can’t dial in on Jones or he will put 180 and 2 tuddies on your head. Shoutout future Charger Trey Palmer though.
A game straight out of Bald Mike’s era… only a combined 34 passing attempts vs a combined 62 rushing attempts. Cook vs Achane was a battle of #1 OPOY and #2 OPOY for the AFC… Cook won the battle and potentially the war. Putting up a ridiculous 230 yards and 5 TDs… can we drug test this man?
A close game which I was not expecting. The Saints are a top 10 scoring team and they won the turnover battle 5 vs 1. I’m not sure what the reason for it being so close is, the stats would lead me to believe they were either too conservatives or they didn’t take their points. Carr having a very efficient game outside his 1 INT.
A lot to say about this game, but I will try making it short. CEO will find difficulty winning a game passing 45 times with Purdy, he is too turnover prone. Then on the other side, I’m not sure the trio of Kyler/Emari/Hollywood can be stopped. Emari with his usual 100+ yard game with 2 TDs, Kyler with an efficient 340 and 3 TDs, and Hollywood racking up 63% of Kyler’s yards.
The big story here is Stetson Bennett getting his first start over Stafford. It wasn’t too bad going 22/29… the thing is 3 of those 7 incompletions were INTs. Once he can clean that up and LAR can develop a run game it should be smooth sailing. Brian Robinson Jr. doubled all of the Rams rushing total himself.
The GOTW not many expected. The key to the Eagles victory was forcing Geno into a time machine back to his Jets days… throwing 3 INTs is not the Geno we know in Zeattle. This game would have been much worse if not for a late game Eagles crumble, thankfully (for them) with the game on the line Geno choked on the 2 point conversion. Hurts had a great game as well and we see you Kelee Ringo… 2 INTs! FLY EAGLES FLY!
The battle of who is going to lose their QB dev first. Lamar not beating the RB allegations with a terrible 6/14 for 62 yards passing, but a 11 rushes 125 yards rushing. Tlaw and Engram competing with Mahomes and Kelce for the best QB/TE duo. Tlaw with 375 yards and 5 TDs and Engram with 7 catches for 115 yards and 2 TDs.
Weirdest game of the week. I am convinced Mahomes and Mac Jones swapped bodies or something. I guess the RPO/jet passes got shut down which led to a underwhelming 125 passing yards and 2 INTs for Mahomes… 60% completion percentage and 0 TDs for the guy who had a 80% completion percentage and #2 in passing TDs. Mac Jones however was letting it fly to Tyreek Jr., 12/16 347 yards and 3 TDs??? I see you McCorkle Jones! Tyquan with 5 receptions (all streaks) for 185 and 3 TDs… Matt Corral even subbed in for some fun and threw a TD. To end on a weird note, Kenyan Drake 170 total yards and looking like King Henry with his broken tackles, Matigy seems to have that magic with any RB.
