After an exciting round of week 16 games, we are in week 17. In simming through the week 17 practice, the Giants are the healthiest they will be at for the rest of the season. Each week we will go over the injury report and practice focus players before the game and update the depth chart at that position.
Focus Players:
CB Deonte Banks: Banks had the only interception last week versus the Eagles which brought him close to another upgrade. He isn’t in any kind of race for defensive rookie of the year but he has played extremely well this year for the Giants. His play doesn’t show up in the statistics but teams aren’t throwing at him. He is already a great corner, next season he will look to be one of the best in the league.
CB Tre Hawkins: Hawkins has dropped in the depth chart due to the return of Robinson, but make no mistake he has a place in this secondary going forward. His main focus is to become a smarter defense while increasing his zone rating.
DT Dexter Lawrence: Lawrence got to the 95 club right as the season opened up and has been like a man possessed this season. He has racked up the tackles for loss, mixed in with a few sacks and it has led to him almost getting an upgrade. He will be looking to increase his strength and power moves.
WR Darius Slayton – 2 weeks
The Giants offense put up a whopping 49 points without their best receiver on the field. Slayton is feeling a little bit nervous watching from the sidelines. Robinson scored two touchdowns last week and Slayton is watching his starting spot slipping away with each injury he has.
MLB Jarrad Davis 70 OVR – 15 weeks IR (Complete MCL Tear)
He was a backup piece and will not be with the Giants next season when he heals from his injury. No change from week 1.
TE Tommy Sweeny 64 OVR – 0 weeks IR (Ruptured Disk)
He was a backup piece and will not be with the Giants next season when he heals from his injury as he will stay on IR. No change from week 1. He will stay on IR for the rest of the season.
C J.C Hassenauer 62 OVR – 10 weeks IR (Torn Tricep)
He was a backup piece and will not be with the Giants next season when he heals from his injury. No change from week 1.
TE Chris Myarick 59 OVR – 5 weeks IR (Broken Hand)
He was a backup piece and will not be with the Giants next season when he heals from his injury. No change from week 1.
