They say that hindsight is 20/20 because of course after having time to dissect the results of an action, everyone becomes an expert on the would’ve, could’ve, should’ve. Well no one has better vision under these circumstances than me. Here in week 18, on the brink of the playoffs, I felt it was appropriate to stop and take a look at the 5 worst moves of season 1 of the Madden 24 PML cycle.
5. Philadelphia Eagles trade for 3 running backs. Bad enough the Eagles traded for DeAndre Swift during last years offseason, sending a 2024 7th and a 2025 4th round pick to the Lions to affair the runner on a1 year deal. Then to add insult to injury the Eagles traded away their 2024 1st round pick to the Tennessee Titans, after trading their 2025 2nd round kick to the Minnesota Vikings for Ty Chandler a couple weeks before. After finishing 6-11 on the season the Eagles may lose 2 of these RB’s to free agency or regression, while lacking the draft capitol to find suitable replacements. Surely this was a dumbass move.
4. Denver Broncos trade 1st and 2nd round picks for Trey Lance and Marshawn Lattimore. In a move that seemed like it was win now, the Broncos bartered their future on players they hoped would bring them success this season. Sure, Lance was an upgrade from the aging Russell Wilson, and Lattimore paired with Surtain II made that secondary lock down but the Broncos never got it going and will finish with top 15 picks in the 1st and 2nd rounds that other teams will get to enjoy.
3. Chargers go all out to build MUT squad just to watch it fall apart due to injures. The LA Chargers just couldn’t leave well enough alone. Entering the cycle with a defense ripe with SS talent and an offense that features one of the leagues top gun slingers with weapons at the skill positions, that just wasn’t enough. The Chargers went out and traded for SS d Lineman Vita Vea, and SS safety Harrison Smith. Attempting to keep pace with the KC Chiefs, the Chargers have fallen short due to injuries to Justin Herbert and Derwin James Jr, who will both miss the playoffs unless they make it to the Super Bowl. When it’s all said and done, the Chargers took q swing, and ended up with a miss.
2. JT decided to be the Panthers for another cycle, knowing the Bears owned his 1st round pick. In real life, sure maybe Bryce Young was worth it, but in PML, when you’re a hit who doesn’t compete competently until season 5, high draft picks are all you really play for in PML. Well not this cycle as the Panthers finish season 1 with the 2nd overall pick that he won’t even get to enjoy. Knowing yourself, and all the players going into the draft, why play yourself knowing the failure of your season would be to doldrums else’s benefit. Make you should’ve taken the Bears and gave Jefe the Panthers, clown.
- Cowboys taking Tyron Smith off the NTL just to not trade him. F*** me, f*** you, f*** all of y’all. This s*** was dumb, not cuz it was dumb, but cuz it was unnecessary. I had some fire deals on the table. Oooowwweeee I was trying to r*** for some draft capital but that hoe a** trade committee dragged they nuts on me. It’s all good though, we found a away to keep our SS Tackle, he protected Dak on his way to leading the league in TD passes, we won the NFC East and I learned how to use to immersion system. But s*** it might all be forn nought cuz if I don’t get out this content point hole, I’m losing my f****** team. I hate y’all, bunch of b******. D*** this s*** was dumb.
