The Giants ended the season on a high note, beating the best roster in the league, however, they still ended with the 6th worst record in the league at 5-12. This record meant that they would be drafting at the 6th overall pick in the draft. They didn’t have much cap space after franchise tagging Barkley. With about 12 million in cap space, and 43 players, they knew that they had a lot of work to do to get this team up to par before the draft. The rest of the article will be a recap of the trades made and free agents picked up.
Giants get 3.24 → Cardinals get DT Alim Mcneill
The Giants built up the young player that they traded away for Loenard Williams. This move was just one of greed. Mcneill was part of the suture for the Giants but Coach Burn felt that they would get a better player in the draft with this pick.
Giants receive BJ Ojulari, 1.24, 2.5 → Cardinals receive pick 1.6
Giants management had 13 players that they were considering for pick 1.6. With this in mind, and the limited cap space and players, they made a deal that would benefit the roster the most this season. Ojulari is a 22 year old 79 overall pass rusher who is great at getting to the quarterback. The way that the Giants see it is getting him with the other 2 picks is like getting 3 first round picks.
Giants receive RE Von Miller → Bills receive 3.24 and a 2nd round pick in 2026
The Giants had no intention of making any more trades, but once Miller was put on the block, they had no choice but to see what the price for one of the best superstar ends in the league was. This price was too much at first with the Bills wanting a second pick in this year’s draft but it was negotiated down to third this year and a second next year. This move pairs Miller and Lawrence to create one of the best DE/DT pairs in the league.
Free Agency Pickups:
WR Danny Gray:
Gray has 95 speed and 93 acceleration. He will be converted to halfback to backup/ pair with Saquon Barkley.
K Cameron Dicker: With Gano leaving, a new Kicker was needed and we got one with 96 kick power.
LG Peat/ RT Nijman: With the Giants lineman concerns last season, depth at lineman was needed and bringing in these two for a cheap price was a smart move.
WR Parris Campbell: Campbell wanted to test the market, however, came back with the Giants knowing that he would start on this offense.
The Free agent moves were purely for depth purposes and with all the moves and pick ups, the Giants are left with 3.6 million in cap space for the rest of the season. The draft is up next and we will do another article recapping how that turned out.
