Round 1
Steal: Brock Bowers: Texans: A steal at pick 8? Yes, Bowers is an absolute game changer and I’m glad to see him on a team that will utilize him well like I was able to last cycle. He is good at everything, fast, and should progress pretty fast even if he gets stiffed on dev day. I love that this happened, the AFC is going to hate that this happened. Bowers is that guy and Keraun is the user for him.
Bust: Ja’Markis Weston: Lions: Speed is great and Weston has 94 of it but he is just not a linebacker. I love his coverage stats and he’ll be usable as a user but with 66 tackle, 69 pursuit, 67 impact block, and 66 block shed this is just a big safety. He isn’t sub LB eligible as a safety so he will just clog the LB spot and make the Lions run defense worse. Should have taken a sub Lb eligible safety if that’s what you wanted.
Round 2
Steal: Tommy Brockermeyer: Bucs: A steal of an offensive lineman to make up for some questionable first round choices. Many lineman worse than him were taken before and the ones that were equal in overall were as much as 11 strength lower so Brockermeyer is a real hit of a pick.
Bust: Jordan Travis: Dolphins: 83 throw power is unusable sadly. Especially with Tua as QB1 this was just a bad pick made worse. He won’t see the field and when he does it’ll be easy to lock down the Dolphins run Game as Tyreek Hill’s speed is negated by Travis’s inability to throw deep.
Round 3
Steal: Dallin Holker: Colts: The TE2 in this draft by overall in round 3 is great, especially since he isn’t slow or anything like that. He won’t get a dev and he’s a bit old but an excellent pick regardless to boost the Colts offense.
Bust: Gee Scott Jr: Panthers: The same round we see a TE steal we see a TE bust as Gee just won’t see the usage that made him so amazing last cycle despite coming in as a 59. He’s a 60 this time around and Carolina took care of the TE position like they always do so Scott is pretty irrelevant which is a bad look for a 3rd round pick.
Round 4
Steal: Danny Stutsman: Chiefs: I’m doing another piece of content that won’t take in to account how good this guy was when he switched positions but this content loves to see it. He jumped to a 78 and the best defensive rookie and a great looking pass rusher. Great find by Matigy and he could even get star.
Bust: Eyabi Okie-Anoma: Panthers: This guy really isn’t terrible but 88 speed and he’s a pass coverage guy so he won’t play that well until JT gets some real AR into him. I know JT loves his freaks and avoids taking BPA since he knows the class but to address a real need here or a better LB at least would have been good to see.
Round 5
Steal: Jer’Zhan Newton: Dolphins: He fell from projected top 5 to the 5th round for what exactly? 74 overall 93 strength and solid attributes all around. He won’t get a dev but this is a great pickup in a late round who can be a starter one day in PML.
Bust: Gilbert Frierson: Packers: It’s the 5th round, you’ll live with a bust but Frierson is as bad as they come. 24 years old as a rookie and a 57 overall without having any particular strength both physical and other attributes. Don’t see this guy making any roster.
Round 6
Steal: Nolan Rucci: Giants: A very solid OL who is a 74, a higher overall and better than so many drafted ahead of him, including the first round. The Giants draft wasn’t amazing but this pick helps it look a lot better. Sorry greeny, I don’t care that your fullback is an 82 overall. Good pick but won’t say he’s a steal.
Bust: Donovan Smith: Patriots: He obviously didn’t know Riley Leonard looked like the answer during the draft but a wasted 6th rounder isn’t terrible. He’ll get cut or relegated to practice squad as a cool prospect who just doesn’t have the skills to play in PML.
Round 7
Steal: Collin Oliver: Ravens: a 75 overall edge rusher in round 7 is crazy. He isn’t a physical specimen but he has the skills and Oklahoma State isn’t the worst school to come out of although he is most likely normal dev. A great pick by Arod or the CPU who cares, he’s a Raven.
Bust: Nate Noel: Texans: The Texans have speed, skill, and dev at the running back position so Noel is pretty useless despite his 95 acceleration. There are two better RBs ahead of him for the backup spot who are just as young. I’d be surprised if he makes the roster, but it’s round 7 so no sweat.
