Cook’s Pre and Post DDT Draft Grades! Picks 1-10

#1 – Ravens select CB Travis Hunter

Pre DDT Grade: A
Pre DDT Analysis: There was no question what the Ravens needed to do with this pick. The only question now is whether Travis should play CB…or WR? Looking at the Ravens roster, I think Travis may be better off starting his NFL career at WR!

Post DDT Grade: A+
Post DDT Analysis: XF Dev solidifies that the Ravens couldn’t do any better with this pick. But…XF CB is the choice…should it be XF WR?

#2 – 49ers select QB Shedeur Sanders

Pre DDT Grade: A-
Pre DDT Analysis: The 49ers needed to move on from the Brock Purdy era. But would they have been better off chasing the more pure pocket passer in Drew Allar? Perhaps so. Otherwise, Deion’s kid joins a team Prime won a Super Bowl with and looks to be a culture changer like his father. This is a huge upgrade over Purdy to hopefully lower interception numbers.

Post DDT Grade: A+
Post DDT Analysis: The only QB in the class to get SS or higher has to elevate this grade to the max because the 9ers maximized the potential of this pick.

#3 – Bengals select LB Dasan McCullough

Pre DDT Grade: C
Pre DDT Analysis: Look, I don’t exactly hate the pick. Hate is a strong word. McCullough’s a good player. And near the same level as Harold Perkins. My only issue is this is not a 3rd overall pick kind of player, and a trade down in the draft would’ve served Cincinnati well.

Post DDT Grade: B+
Post DDT Analysis: Getting SS redeems everything about this pick. If this is going to be a user LB, expect McCullough to be anything but Silent on the field!

#4 – Buccaneers select QB Jalen Milroe

Pre DDT Grade: D
Pre DDT Analysis: More questions than answers. Why make this move after Baker Mayfield had a great season? Why move up from 12 when you probably could’ve gotten Milroe at 12 anyways? And why Milroe and not Drew Allar for an offensive system that has their QB being a gunslinger over a scrambler? Hopefully the Bucs have answers, or else this move can set the franchise back for years.

Post DDT Grade: D-
Post DDT Analysis: Holy cow, Normal dev? A straight up disaster especially if the Bucs don’t utilize his legs. If PML keeps the same energy, Milroe should be under the same microscope Caleb Williams was under his rookie season.

#5 – Jaguars select WR Luther Burden III
Pre DDT Grade: B
Pre DDT Analysis: This was clearly a pick made to fill a need over drafting the best player available. And Luther was the best WR of a not so great WR class. But worthy of the 5th pick? Probably not…but if Jacksonville didn’t take him I doubt he would’ve slide past Buffalo at 11.

Post DDT Grade: B+
Post DDT Analysis: Star dev puts Burden on the path to greatness. He should be the WR1 in that Jags locker room, and is put in a position to to over 1k his rookie season… and maybe rack up some dev stories on the way!

#6 – Commanders select MLB Harold Perkins Jr
Pre DDT Grade: A-
Pre DDT Analysis: The only reason why I can’t give this a higher grade is that Perkins’s attributes are actually a bit underwhelming, circa Caleb Williams last season. Otherwise, a homerun pick for the Washington front office!

Post DDT Grade: A-
Post DDT Analysis: A Star dev doesn’t move the needle either way. It’s still a very solid pick for a player that wasn’t expected to drop out of the top 5.

#7 – Eagles select DE Mykel Williams
Pre DDT Grade: A
Pre DDT Analysis: Usually HD makes the flashy picks that make little sense, but this time he went for the best pick available. Williams gives Philly a second edge rusher to pair with rising star Nolan Smith, and a great chance at another SS player on the roster since Mykel played for the CFB champ Longhorns.

Post DDT Grade: A
Post DDT Analysis: The grade doesn’t move despite SS dev because you almost expected him to get at least SS dev and arguably draft him this high for that sole reason. The Eagles rebuild just got a major boost!

#8 – Raiders select DT Walter Nolen
Pre DDT Grade: B+
Pre DDT Analysis: This filled an absolute need for the Raiders, they needed beef inside. A very safe pick. I just personally wish the Raiders looked at Benjamin Morrison with this pick and drafted an interior lineman with their next pick.

Post DDT Grade: A-
Post DDT Analysis: Normal dev would’ve been heartbreaking, but now the Raiders have a top nose tackle from the class who’s development can get fast tracked with Star dev. But Benjamin…

#9 – Colts select CB Benjamin Morrison
Pre DDT Grade: A+
Pre DDT Analysis: It’s deja vu in Indy! How did a generational CB prospect slip to the Colts once again! The Colts had good CBs on the roster and didn’t need Morrison, but this was the best player available and the Colts did what a smart front office would do in this spot.

Post DDT Grade: A++
Post DDT Analysis: Literally deju vu! A CB slips to Indy and gets SS dev. Kool-Aide and Benjamin are going to be a top CB tandem in the league for years to come.

#10 – Commanders select SS Sonny Styles
Pre DDT Grade: C+
Pre DDT Analysis: Sonny Styles is a big body safety ready to roll on day 1. But not at Sub LB like many thought. With his Awareness being a 62, he’ll need some generous in game upgrades along with AR to maybe see Sub LB in his rookie season. Otherwise, I don’t think Washington needed to make this pick. I’m sure they wish Morrison dropped one spot further. An average pick gets an average grade.

Post DDT Grade: A-
Post DDT Analysis: SS dev changes A LOT. For one, now you have a franchise cornerstone. And a sneaky bonus, this gives Styles more chances at in game upgrades to get the 3 Awareness points he needs to be Sub LB eligible!

Stay tuned later tonight for picks 11-20!
