Transcript: Seahawks Head Coach Press Conference

What can you attribute to having one of the top-scoring teams in the league to this point?

I think we do a great job of finishing drives in the redzone, one of the hardest places to score touchdowns with consistency. While there are a lot of big play threats on our football team, our ability to convert inside the 20, particularly when the defense is well aware that they have much less space to defend, has been huge to our success as an offense. Regrettably, our defense has also been prone to conceding scores, requiring our offense to also be on the field more than we would like, which contributes to our high point total as well.

Can you speak to the overall team health?

We dealt with a few injuries, particularly in the trenches, over the first 6 weeks, we enter the bye week relatively healthy with all of our players being ready to go for week 8 against the Niners. Good health is one of many factors that goes into a successful super bowl run, and we hope to maintain that as time goes on.

What were the key challenges posed by the Patriots in your last game?

Their defense is perhaps the best organically-created defensive unit I have ever seen in my time in this league. They have impact players at all three levels of the defense and the secondary blankets passing games while the defensive line eviscerates rushing attacks. It was very reassuring as a coaching staff to have been able to perform to the level that we did, and I hope as we move forward we can continue to perform at a high level.
