Can you summarize what it was like playing against the Broncos last week?

Playing against the Broncos last week was a real test of our team's resilience and determination. Trey Lance showed incredible grit, battling through an injury to keep us competitive. His leadership and toughness were evident as he made crucial plays, despite not being at 100%. The team rallied around him, overcoming several injuries and turnovers that could have easily derailed us. It was a game that kept us on edge from start to finish, but our guys never gave up.

One of the standout moments was Brandon Adams' big interception. It was a pivotal play that shifted momentum in our favor and showcased the strength of our defense when we needed it most. We also have to acknowledge the growth of Shedeur Sanders. Over the past two weeks, his improvement has been remarkable. He's been limiting turnovers, showing excellent timing, and demonstrating a deeper understanding of defensive schemes. His progress has been a huge boost for our offense.

Overall, the game was a tough battle, but it highlighted the resilience and fighting spirit of our team. We learned a lot about ourselves and our ability to handle adversity, which will serve us well moving forward.

Can you talk about the development of C.J. Smith so far?

C.J. Smith is quickly establishing himself as one of the premier wide receivers in the league. His speed is something you simply can't teach; it's a natural gift that sets him apart from many other players. Each week, we see him becoming a more refined route runner, which is a testament to his work ethic and dedication to improving his craft. His ability to create separation and make defenders miss is truly special.

What's been equally impressive is his growing connection with Shedeur Sanders. They're developing a chemistry that's becoming a cornerstone of our offense. Their timing and understanding of each other's tendencies are improving with every game. It's clear that they spend a lot of time working together, and it's paying off on the field.

C.J. is also proving himself in those critical 50/50 situations. His ability to go up and take the ball away from defenders is something that really excites us as a coaching staff. He's not just relying on his speed; he's showing that he can make contested catches and be a reliable target in any situation. His development has been a huge asset for our team, and we’re excited to see him continue to grow.

What is the status of George Kittle and when is he set to return?

George Kittle is progressing well in his recovery and is due back either this week or next. We're being very cautious with his return, as we don't want to rush him back before he's fully ready. George is a key player for us, and we need him at 100% to make the impact we know he can. His health and long-term contribution are our top priorities.

In the meantime, David Njoku has been stepping up and filling in admirably. He's been a reliable target and has done a great job in both the passing game and blocking assignments. David’s performance has been a testament to his professionalism and readiness to contribute whenever called upon.

That said, we’re eagerly anticipating George’s return to the lineup. His dynamic playmaking ability and leadership on the field are things we’ve certainly missed. We’re also excited about the potential of using both George and David together in our offensive schemes. Having two versatile and talented tight ends will give us a lot of options and create mismatches for opposing defenses. We're looking forward to exploring new ways to utilize their strengths and make our offense even more potent.

The defense is getting a lot of criticism lately for their level of play. Are you planning to make any changes?

We don't pay much attention to the outside noise and criticism. Our focus is always on what's happening within the walls of our building. We know where we have faltered and where we need to improve, but I'm incredibly proud of this team and the growth I'm seeing each week. We're currently on our first winning streak of the season, and that's a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players and coaching staff.

Our main objective is to continue finding ways to take the ball away from the other team. Turnovers can change the momentum of a game, and our defense has been making strides in this area. Even if we give up yards, our priority is to keep the opposing team off the scoreboard. We're focusing on situational football, improving our red zone defense, and making those critical stops when it matters most.

We understand that there are areas we need to tighten up, and we're addressing those in our practices and meetings. Our coaching staff is committed to making the necessary adjustments and putting our players in the best position to succeed. But overall, I'm confident in the direction we're heading and the potential of our defense to be a strong unit. The criticism is part of the game, but our belief in each other and our process is unwavering.
